Anything bigger than a 285 physically doesn’t fit in the wheel well. Lifting won’t get rid of rubbing. You need to do a CMC and other trimming. On other vehicles lift does increase tire clearance, but it’s not the case with a Tacoma.

6" lift will probably reduce fender, well liner and/or pinch weld rubbing, as will a small body lift. Probably will still rub on UCAs without proper backspacing/offset as well as the frame.
