Holy shit haha that’s a lot of riding. I think my main goal for this year is going to be the SM100 with a few other races in there to build up to it. I’m thinking I actually need to setup a training plan though since I’ve never done 100 miles at once

Same here, no commutes. Elevation gain is due to life in the Rockies man, and a few lift service days :anonymous:

I bought my first road bike 3 years ago and it took me about 6 months of riding it to get it all figured out and I love it! It is so much different than the dirt... when I’m on my schedule it’s 30-50 miles on Saturday road ride and Sundays is 25-30 in the dirt and 3 days a week 12 miles on my lunch ride

FatBike Info Appreciated: So they had a FatBike Demo today and I rode the Salsa Mukluk and BearGrease, Trek Farley and Kona Wo. Any others people would recommend? I'm leaning towards the BearGrease right now based on my experiences riding the four. What should I be looking for in a FatBike, as this is my first one?

I have a Beargrease.. I really like it. It feels like a normal mountain bike while riding! The 3.8x27.5 are awesome. I like all the mounts. I have no intention whatsoever to put a suspension fork on it to keep it Rigid. For a fat bike it’s quick and nimble.

    I haven’t broken it yet either. :)

So it's not quite a MTB setup? A little more upright? That's the feeling I got while riding the Mukluk.

This was my impression of the BearGrease.

Do you two run flats or clipless? Pros/Cons to either? This is my first FatBike.

According to Salsa's sizing, I am dead square between a XSM and SM, but the didn't have any BearGrease's at the demo, so I tried a SM Farley first, which I felt like a circus bear riding. I was upright and my toes hit the back of the front tire twice before getting onto the trail. It seemed really twitchy. I then tried a MD Farley, which was more stretched out like a normal MTB and I felt more comfortable on, but it seemed sluggish. Both Farley's beat the hell out of me. they felt rigid and I could feel everything in my spine.

The Kona Wo was a MD and like the Farley in regards to being stretched out like a normal MTB. Felt really bouncy, but compliant and absorbed the trail more. Felt twitchy and responsive.

The Mukluk's compliance, bounciness and response were similar to the Wo, but I felt more upright, but not in a bad way per se. These four were all ridden on the exact same trail and I didn't notice the standover height being an issue. I then went down to the shop and rode the MD Beargrease. It felt more like a traditional MTB and I would say that it was someplace in between the Farley's and the WO/Mukluk in response and compliance. It didn't feel as bouncy, nor as twitchy, but it was responsive. The one thing that concerned me was that it is like my Jeffsy. My sack tickles the top tube and the seat is right in the center of my lower back when I am standing over it. I must have PTSD or something from my BMX/Freestyle days, because as soon as the sack tickles the top tube I start having flashbacks of all the times I busted my nuts in my youth and I get all Leary. I only notice this being an issue with me when I'm standing over the Jeffsy, once I'm off and riding it's not an issue, so maybe I'm worrying about the standover too much.

I'm leaning towards the SX, just because of aesthetics. I'm really not a fan of the NX, GX or the X01 color ways and all BearGrease's have the same frame. My only concern other than standover is the SX Grouppo. Anyone have any experience with Sram's SX? Any other advice?

SX is pretty ok, Weight is the big factor. Performance wise it will be very close.

I use XT clipless. A lot of guys use flats. I’ve been on clipless so long it’s an involuntary movement for me. Also my gravel bike is clipless and I just wanted my pedals all the same.

Also something to consider, tire pressure is a huge factor in fat bikes. The ones that where a rough ride may have been overinflated.

^^^This...1/2lb air pressure can make a world of difference in fat bikes. You're heading in the right direction with bike choice, BearGrease is a real nice bike and if you will be using it for trails and just not snow the 27.5 wheels are great in that regard.

Not much on the 07 yet. 18 is gone, but was a greata truck. TRD Pro grill, Gator FX3, Homelink mirror, Black out badges & exhaust tip, Remote start. Future TRD exhaust, skid plate.
Had these made so I could add a touch of red to the truck. I am liking them so far. I should have done 8" instead of 6"
Plus with sooooo many gray Tacomas around these days, I don't want mine looking like all others.

Nice looking bike! I would like to get a Diverge eventually. Those colors are awesome.

The wind is the worst...I’m going to attempt a road ride on the bike trails, hopefully the trees will block enough of the wind. It says about 17mph winds here.
