Anyone figure anything out? I just had my automatic stall when I went from reverse to drive pulling out of a parking space and transmission temp warning came up.

If you’re going to fast from reverse to drive, the vehicle can stall as safety feature to not do any damage to the transmission. Perhaps this was your issue?

Look, all these comments about "I would make the dealer do this, I would do that, LEMON LAW" are not helpful. You came here for a fix, but unfortunately we dont have one. Your truck has a problem, it may just need an ECU flash, it may need a part, who knows. You need to get it to the dealer, if they wont help you, then please please contact corporate. This is not normal or okay

I have the exact same issue on my new 2018 Tacoma TRD Offroad, V6, AT. Less that 1000k miles on it. Stalled twice last weekend. Once just after I started it and once in reverse. Took it to the dealer where they could not reproduce. They opened a case with Toyota. Picking it back up this morning. I expect this will happen again and will keep the thread updated.

I don't suffer from this issue (10K now), but it may be worth posting/comparing your Build Info (Location and Date). It's on the door frame sticker. It may shed some light on similarities?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the new transmission TSB? Anyone have stalling and not have the TSB?

My '17 did the same, with about 5k miles on it. Backed up a steep driveway, then put it in drive and it stalled. Same temp warning came up. Took it to a dealer, and they acknowledged it showed it had stalled, but they obviously couldn't replicate it, no CEL, so just chalked it up to "shrug....Next in line!"

So I traded it for a 6MT. Problem solved. At least the next time it stalls, it will most likely be the fault of the dolt behind the wheel.

2018 Tacoma SR5 crew cab v6 2wd with 12/2017 build date. The 00062-18 update from the dealer fixed it. My son and I had to pretty much threaten them to get it even though I’ve had this problem since I bought the truck in March of 2018. They told me it was learning, then bad gas, then I drove it wrong- but this update is the fix. Everyone should do it! Shifts better throughout gears and takeoff improved.
