yeah it has the toyota extra care platinum warranty but they told me it's not covered since it falls under the "regular maintenance" category.

but i feel its very soon for it to go out, the only thing I can think of is during the whole "rear diff recall" the dealer had my truck sitting on their lot for 6months in the blazing sun, I would think some components would get be damaged, considering its 110 all summer here and my truck is mostly garage kept, but i dont know how far i can get with that since i havent had the best experience with this dealership.

because it falls under "regular maintenance" even though i got the extended warranty and its prematurely going out.

    They're not pro-rating that 6 months?
If 6 months get you back under the Basic Warranty(3/36), I'd try arguing the point.

Hey folks, bought my '17 with 42k and I just looked at my serpentine belt while filling my washer fluid; not sure how this cross belt groove got cut/worn into it. One pic shows the groove and the other shows the ribs on the belt; they don't look cracked. Wasn't expecting to replace the belt at 40k but glad I saw that spot 0_o changing today

Is it just the seam from when it was manufactured?

It could be, but it looks pretty nasty. It's also jagged and seems a deep "cut" to me

I'll inspect the new belt and see if it has anything like it...no issues just being cautious

You will never learn to do anything if you are unwilling to try. Enjoy paying for a new belt

Kinda lame that you needed it at 44k and the warranty didn't cover.

Just for reference I took my truck into the dealer for the same chirping sound when accelerating (25,000 miles). I knew right away it was coming from the serpentine belt or one of the pulleys. They told me they've been seeing a few of these lately on low mileage trucks and that they "think there will be a recall"... I doubt it. But anyways, the service dude, pulled a can of WD40 out of his desk drawer and sprayed the tensioner pulley and a few others. Made the sound wayyyy worse! He then said they can take a look at it in a few days. I was leaving on a trip the next morning so I said screw it I'll just deal until I get back.
I went home and sprayed out my engine compartment with the hose just to clean some of the dirt and dust off incase I'd be reaching in there to replace the belt myself on my trip. Funny enough after hosing down the engine, the sound completely went away. I've driven another 1000 miles on/off road in mud, snow and rain, and no sound coming back yet.

Since the belt looks ok to me, I'm just leaving it alone for now.

TLDR: Try cleaning your engine compartment. Can't hurt.
