Was kinda questioning my purchase but realized the Sport is more than capable. Here’s a guy who overlands regularly without lockers or CC.
This just shows that with a good set of tires and suspension Tacoma’s are super capable in any form.

Yep, tons of guys, 2nd gen sports too overland / offroad without any issues or need for a locker or CC, its just a sheep mentality around here that you need an OR. At least half the OR owners around here will never need or use CC / locker and once you ditch the sport wheels it looks better anyways with the color keyed stuff and skewp.

2nd gen Sport here! We adventure and camp a bit when we can. I haven’t had any issues yet. We dint do anything like rock crawling however. I’m happy with it

CC is useful as the scoop for 90% or more of OR owners.

:rofl:At the fact that people think you need a locker or CC to offroad... An all terrain tire will get a you quite far. Suspension will get you a little further. But in all honesty, being a good driver will get you further than you could imagine.

Most people with an offroad don't give a shit what model others buy, they just want the crawl control/ multi-terrain select/ rear locker in case they need it. If you don't and think the color match stuff/ skewp is more useful than cool deal. Of course you don't need any of that stuff, just like you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on roof top tents and all that shit that bro has on his taco in the video.

2nd gen sporty here I wheel pretty regular. No lockers or atrac but did add a mechanical LSD that was a huge improvement. Only things holding me back is clearance, wheel base, and cajones still a DD.
They are very capable trucks enjoy it and get’er dirty.

Not a fan of the scoop, but the sport is more than capable. I’ve gotten stuck a few times and the onboard tools ore more important to me and a winch is a awesome decision regardless.

    Check My Sig.
All depends on the type of wheeling and terrain you expect to cover. I have a Sport. I've wheeled a good amount without a locker but I did put an ARB in when I re-geared and it's probably been one of the most beneficial things I've done to the truck being in SoCal and the wheeling I tend to get into.

Most guys building a "overland" rig aren't doing technical stuff. They are out to explorer the hot spots and cover ground. Don't really need a locker to do that. It's all application.
