Do you guys have any suggestions for a 3 foot whip antenna (make/model) for the fender mount? I'm not looking for anything too fancy just something of decent quality an reasonably priced.

Was wondering if you mounted your Antenna on your headache rack? 3rd gen... was thinking of the Back Rack.

Was thinking of mounting my 102" steel whip. Was wondering how and where you mounted it.

I have a 4' firestick mounted to a CaliRaised bracket off the driver's side tailgate. Incredibly disappointed. Won't raise a signal parked beside Route 95 on a Uniden 520XL. Apparently the Ground Plane thing is what's killing me.

Choices are to keep the firestick setup (Heavy Duty Spring and FireRing Mount) and move it to a hood bracket mount, or return it and get a Lil' Wilson antenna, and park it on the roof.

I have heard a couple people say the Lil' Wilsons can cause rust if you leave them there all the time. Anyone in the rust belt states verify that they're okay for long-term use?

I'd definitely prefer somewhere that doesn't require drilling into the painted body.

I'm with you. And I would want to be really cautious about leaving a magnetic mount permanently stuck on my truck, as well. I have made that mistake with vehicles in the past. Apparently using this stuff under the magnetic base goes a long way towards preventing the damage. Still the issue of wires running along the roof, though.

I'm thinking a hood mount solution might be my way forward...
