You probably have to adjust the compression on your suspension. Lol

Don't blame me, blame CBI and/or Tepui. It's a really old post. This thread has recently got a boost in activity...

jholc: What kind of topper is that? I've been looking to do a similar set up, but am concerned about the weight of the tent on the topper (which seem to usually be rated for 200-300 lbs). How much weight are you comfortable putting up there? Looks great by the way!

Sure - It is the ARE Overland model topper. The CVT Mt Rainier weighs around 165 lbs. The Yakima bars are rated for around 185 lbs of non-static (moving) weight. The static/stationary weight is rated much higher. I've had 3 people up there pretty comfortably but keep in mind when the tent is open, the weight is spread across 3 points once you include the ladder. If you notice, the ARE Overland model has smaller windows which are supposed to increase the strength of the shell but I still would not recommend doing anything crazy like a ton of high-speed rough roads or tippy off camber stuff. Also for what it is worth, I only mount the tent up there when I am using it. Obviously, the bed rack systems and bed bars are stronger but I really like having my storage inside the topper out of sight and out of the weather. Per CVT, the install hundreds of these tents on toppers with no issues. Just gotta be reasonable in expectations.

Did you need to use any additional screw or bolts to install RTT to RCI rack?
