Has anyone installed one of these? In a 2nd gen with factory headunit non jbl?

I'm wondering if there is a way to not splice wires by using adaptors or wiring harness?

Search for Kicker Key on here and build the Metra T-harness everyone uses for that. Same concept, just a different amp

If you’ve already got the alpine power pack you can use the same harness to install it as the one used for the kicker key. I have the power pack installed and love it. The one thing the key has the power pack doesn’t is the mic which there are differing opinions on how well it works that I’ve read. Other than that imo per the specs the power pack is slightly better but it’s debatable and by slim margin either way. Metra harnesses work for both Amps

You can use an extension harness like this one.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/143468940678
    [IMG]
It has both ends on it and all of the wire pin locations are populated. Just cut the speaker wires in half for the in/out for the amp and then tap into the 12v power, accessory, and ground, then plug the harness in behond the radio. That way you don't have to touch the factory wiring at all.

That’s the harness I bought and I also pieced together another just to practice a little soldering for first time.. harness works great it’s an adapter. I also used blue posi taps instead of cutting the wires. I bought the taps from Crutchfield. Worked perfectly and did not have to cut any wire. Very simple even for a beginner as this was the first install I’d ever tried on my own

Appreciate the help. Looks like I ordered the right parts just wasn't sure if I needed anything else.

Anyone got any dummy proof diagrams? Not sure how to hook it up from the speaker harness to the headunit speaker without rca theres purple/purple black, gray/gray black, green/green black on the metra speaker adapter how do I hook the green with purple to the harness plus the amp harness? Also do you have to wire the amp to the battery? Or ground to chassis? Will it not work if plugged directly to headunit?

you will be tapping into the rears (purple and green) from the smaller harness and fronts (white and gray) from bigger harness. I did run the positive (yellow) to my auxiliary fuse box but it’s essentially the same as battery positive post if you don’t have auxiliary fuse box. I ran my ground underneath driver side carpet where I found a factory grounded terminal already in place. Hope this helps. Anymore questions just holler. On the remote I just soldered together some more wire to lengthen it to same remote in on my powered sub I have underneath my driver seat. Mine is tucked into the dash sitting on my harness behind factory HU and my harness is wrapped on Tessa tape and cable tied as neatly as possible or I’d show it to you. No problems whatsoever here with my setup and it sounds great to me. Btw the harness in that thread makes it 100% plug and play to hook the alpine power pack or kicker key

Thanks for that pic. Did it originally have rca? The alpine has em and I cut them off but there's green gray purple and white on the speaker harness on the amp. And on the speaker adpator there's only 2 greens and 2 purples then the main wiring harness for the amp

Also the harness I have is the scosche brand. Wiring h and speaker harness male and female

Yes it did and I cut the rcas off. That’s the homemade Metra harnesses combined in with the alpine power pack harnesses

Sounds like you’ve only got the male part of the homemade harness required

So I have the male and female for both.i used wire nuts. Connected all the same colored wires. Did you run your powerr to the battery? If so is it necessary?

If your head unit isn’t fused for 15 amps it is necessary and my is not or at least I had doubt so yes I did run the positive power to the battery and grounded under carpet near driver seat. I read and saw an article that it performs better wired to the battery either way

Up north in Marysville. I just realized the harness I got is incorrect. Son of a biscuit. The colors are different and the speaker harness only has two greens and purple

Camera is broken but these are it. I just realized the power is on the smaller blue plug of the harness
