Hey everyone just got a 2017 SR5 and had a few questions, what’s the biggest tire I can get on it without rubbing or lifting it? And what tire recommendations do you guys have for me? Thank you!

    And welcome to TW

For tires it depends on what you're looking for. How do you plan to use your truck? What kind of tire noise is ok? How many miles do you want to get out of them? Etc...

People will tell you to use the search tool. But since this looks like your first post here, I hope this helps you:

If your truck has 16” wheels, you can go up a size to 265/75/16 (31.6” outside diameter) without lift or rubbing in almost all cases save a few strange trucks.

If your truck has 17” wheels, you can go up a size to 265/70/17 (also 31.6” outside diameter) without lift or rubbing same as above.

I run 265/70/17 c-rated 6-ply BfG K02 in spring/summer/fall on 17” TRD pro 4Runner rims. I love the tire and have no rubbing issues.

I run 265/75/16 e-rated 10-ply General Arctic LT snow tires in winter on my stock TRD OR 16” rims. I do not like the k02s in winter, hence the snow tires. The Arctic LT are a great tire, but heavy and mileage suffers. Also no rubbing or issues.

I now have a 1.5” lift, but ran these tires with no lift, with no issues, in reasonably rough off road scenarios. I have stock OEM mudflaps

There are various taller, skinnier “pizza cutter” type tires that guys also fit. These narrow, tall tires have some fans here, but I’m no expert on those.

This link may help you. It’s a calculator that shows the difference between the various sizes and compares them.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc

Also keep in mind wheel offset plays a factor. Most Toyota wheels place the tire well within the wheel well, so they are usually a safe bet when going up one size. Many aftermarket wheels add “poke” (negative offset) which causes the tire to shift towards the outside of the wheel well. This can complicate the equation and result in rubbing in some sizes, though may be required if fitting even larger tires.

Your speedo will read perfectly with sizes mentioned above- 265/75-16 or 265/70-17

Just get some sensibly sized wheel spacers then mount anything you like.
