Removing seat

96 single cab..
Is the easiest way to remove the seats to just remove the 4 bolts?

 

bench or buckets?

i am not sure then, i would think there are more than 4 bolts holding that down?

 

Do I spray the bolts with anything before wrenching on them?

 

if they are crusty i probably would
especially underneath the cab where they may poke out at

 

Are you new to working on cars?

If the bolt threads are rusty, then yes, but have you tried just putting a wrench on them and try to loosen them?

 

if the bolts on a bench seat go through the floorpan they are going to most likely be messy underneath in MN at this trucks age
but you never know...

 

Maybe. Get down there and look. Could also just be serface rust that doesnt effect anything.

Just try llosening it first. No reason to waste time with fluids if you dont need to.

 

I use a 14mm socket.

 

Depends what your doing .

Sometimes it is faster to just break the bolts off.

depending where the truck lives the weld nuts break out of the floor

 

Even easier with a bench seat. It’s four bolts instead of eight with buckets.

 

Not new at all.
Just nice to know what others do before digging in.
That’s the point of this forum.

 

are you putting some different bucket type seats in?
those benches can get to be a pain for LT, even after 20k miles

 

Got some new seat covers and just want to get the best fit.
Seat cam out with ease.

Yeah not many.
But I see see them all the time.

 

i probably see more older Rangers here in my city than the real old Tacomas that did not have the crutch, but not many in that good of exterior condition, might've recently seen a good shape 98-2000 model but did not see if their plates were from out of state
