Heading up to Big Bear and a few other spots this year and I know CHP sometimes require you have chains on you.

Can anyone recommend a good set of chains or cables that would fit on a set of 33’s?

Pewag 7 mm all square wide base chains. I am running USA 3229 SC on Toyo MT LT285/75R17. You will also need chain adjusters. Glacier below can recommend the correct model for your tires and they have tables online that you can check fitment.

    Contact Glacier Chain Supply: 907 345 0116.

They are expensive but very rugged and heavy duty and made out of an alloy that work hardens so should give you the best life possible out of a set of chains. I would have no hesitation running these in mud with nasty rocks mixed in. If you are in serious trouble in mud or snow it is nice to have these as back up even if you have to suffer to get them on the tires.

You have a 4x4 with 33's. The CHP doesn't care about you, lol

The highway is more likely to be closed before R-3 conditions are imposed. Technically, you're supposed to carry them, but you're not likely to need them. Just go to walmart and pick up a set. They don't even check if the chains are the proper size for your tires (ask how I know, lol)
