Didn’t have any luck finding answers to this, but does anyone know if Progressive will cover damage from off-roading? I looked through my policy and it doesn’t explicitly say off-roading is an exclusion. We had Geico before, and the policy didn’t mention an off-roading exclusion but I’ve had friends who said their claims were denied because of off-road damage. The policy does state that racing activities are not covered.

Doubtful, the secret is to know a tow truck that can pull you out to the road...

I've never heard of insurance that covers off roading , that's the same as if asking if a car or truck is covered during a Drag racing event or track day event at a Road course

I’ve never heard of such a thing. You should always be aware of what the truck and yourself as a driver are capable of and shouldn’t go beyond those capabilities. If something were to happen, you could try and say you backed into something or hit a telephone pole. Either way, your rates would go up and it’ll be out of pocket. Best advice is to invest in some sliders and steel bumpers.

If you are truly off road, then most likely not if recovery is an issue. However, you are covered on any charted back road to include seasonal or non maintained forest service roads and the like. If it's on a map, it's a road.

    Yes, and it depends.

If the accident/damage happened on a Forest Service Road or County Road, then yes it will be covered. Off-road park, competition (Rock crawling at an event)...etc, probably not. On my Corvette insurance, it was clearly stated that drag racing/open road racing/track days were not covered by my policy.

This happened on a FS road in Colorado and was covered by Progressive. This cost 6800.00, and I did the repairs myself.

Turned out ok, and found out I suck a two stage paint jobs.

Like you, I used to off-road a DD or something that I didn't want damaged. I went to a dedicated off-road vehicle long ago, and have never been happier.

Now, NFG...because good luck claiming this on insurance...

Just a FYI, they do have racing insurance for road racing. Several companies do it and you can get covered for track weekends and not just pay a ludicrous amount for an entire year. I've used track insurance several times and the piece of mind is really nice when you want to push hard. I used Hagerty.

Damage is damage. Progressive doesn't give a crap what you were doing with it unless it means there is another at-fault party they can get some money from. They take your deductible no matter what.

There MIGHT be exceptions if the damage occurred during the commision of a crime. But even that's not a given, lol...

Just read your policy and look for what the *exceptions* are. More than likely it's going to be something along the lines of as long as it was a public (legal) road (the Rubicon is a county road), you should be fine.

It honestly shouldn't even matter if the damage is on private land, either. My property is (obviously) private, and Liberty Mutual had no issues repairing my wife's car when I backed into it with my truck. :anonymous: They took my $500 deductible without hesitation.:censored:

But your insurance can exempt whatever they want, so read your policy.
