Hi everyone, any help with following would be greatly appreciated.

I want to swap the tire and wheel set from a 2019 Tacoma SR to a 2020 Tacoma SR5.

Do The sensors need to be swapped as well or do they just need to be reprogrammed?

    The 2019 has 265/65R17’s.
    The 2020 has 245/75R16’s.

THX... I went to the dealer today and they quoted 6 hours of labor, @ $135/hour.

The tech stated that sensors had to stay with the original vehicle.

Well that's bs. They reprogrammed mine to go with a new set of wheels/tires without me asking...and now want to charge me to switch them back. I understand your pain

    BS.
Buy obd2 adapter (new about $160) and get a free techstream. 10 min to reprogram sensors.

I don’t know about the SR5, but the 2019 OR has a button under the steering wheel (to the left) you push that resets the TPMS sensors. When I got new wheels with sensors from Tire rack I just had to push the button after install.

6 hours of labor? F that dealer. Find another dealer. Better yet most tire shops should be able to reprogram tpms.

You need to register TPMS under tire pressure monitor ECU.

Still sober...so yes, they all have this button, although if you read the manual there is a bit involved along with driving (i believe) over 45 for about 15min. Not that that's an issue, just noting it. Mine never registered back to the others(stock) no matter how many times i tried.

Makes me wonder if mine registered. I have no errors, but I’ll deflate one on the way to the shop tomorrow to see. Haha!

It would show up as -- for every reading. They swapped mine to my winter wheel/tire setup without me asking, so for...9 months out of the year, that's the reading i get. I asked my dad to take it in for it's *under warranty* service while i was at work, and he said they wanted to charge for changing the reading back...to the stock wheels. FML lol

Haha! Of course they did. Have you called Discount Tire to see how much they charge? They have always been really good to me, but they know I have lots of vehicles.

    GOOD NEWS, FELLAS!!!

    The tire/wheel swap is done.

I visited a local tire shop, here is Austin,TX, and got It done for $40.
it was simple swap and reprogramming of the sensors; the sensors did not have to stay with the original vehicle.

THX to everyone for there help and advice.
