I’d be ok with the inline bmw engine and even a tranny. But stop there... the interior is 110% bmw and 0% Supra. Just buy an M2 instead, or an older Supra.

Here's the only logical and undebateable reason that Toyota should have done better with this.

The LFA. Which was largely designed by toyota.

If they could make something like that. Which was known around the world, as one of the greatest supercars ever made by many professionals, then they should have had zero issues making this supra without BMWs help. There is no excuse after that

I would take another collaboration with Subaru, even GM or Ford over BMW.

I would have prefered a twin turbo 3.5 like the one in my 3rd gen over that BMW

Toyota had a mild relationship with GM at one time. NUMMI was a joint production venture between them. Toyota got a quick plant in The States and GM didn't have to close, what was at the time, the worst assembly plant in the world. Out of that came the Corolla/Chevy Nova/Geo Prism. They eventually produced the Tacoma, Pontiac Vibe (mechanical twin to the Matrix) as well as the exported Toyota Vitz. There was even a short lived right hand drive rebaged Chevy Cavalier called the Toyota Cavalier that was sold in Japan.

They had a pretty good thing going until GM pulled out in their bankruptcy.

That engine is coming soon. The TT 2GR in the current Lexus LS500 lays down 442 lbs ft of torque at only 1600 rpm.

I'm hearing the Tundra's version of that engine (heavily strengthened) will have an optional hybrid booster system that will take the torque to somewhere around 600 lbs ft at less than 2000 rpm.

I think your forgetting the insane price the LFA has/had and the fact that even at that price Toyota lost money on each one they sold because of the insane research and development price

From what I heard GM was still having issues and wasn't really making anything on the Vibe, but Toyota was doing well with the matrix.

There's a reason Toyota shows up in business management classes as a good example, they know what they're doing.

And the fact that it was entirely hand built. It took 3 years to produce 500 units. There's no money in that. It was strictly an exercise in creativity to help boost Lexus' image

I'm saving my money for the new MR2. Or a coffin. Whichever comes first.
