I have used both, and as many have previously said, the boxes I receive have sometimes come from dealerships, and i have also got better prices before when ordering direct from dealers.

It was hyperbole. I guess maybe you have too much common sense to pick up on the humor and sarcasm.

I use Amazon for many OEM parts for this truck and other vehicles. Never had a problem with them or the authenticity of parts. The less people I need to deal with to buy something, the better. Every time I go to a store or dealership, whatever they either don’t have it, or it’s priced like the online marketplace doesn’t exist. This applies to anything- I’ll use my washing machines pump for example, OEM part was 120$ at local appliance shop with two week wait, amazon had the same OEM part to my door in two days for 65 bucks. The future of buying crap is here, and it’s the internet.

Amazon for the most part is a marketplace for vendors to list their goods, Amazon facilitates the sales etc. While I am not a fan of Amazons business model and the way it creates undue burdens for mom and pop retail, a lot of the time Amazon is not the actual seller. (I notice people using Amazon like its a store of its own etc) That would be the reason sometimes you buy something and think you are screwing over the local mom and pop that is a little higher, and you actually get the product from that mom and pop...lol. Amazon pricing etc is an algorithm game, sometimes you win sometimes you don't. A lot of the time if you contact the seller of the product direct, they will give you a reduced price if you tell them you were going to buy it from them on amazon. They save fees this way. Amazon and Ebay are very effective marketplaces for vendor listings for sure. Like an online Super Mall!!!!

Yeah, I'd be very wary buying "OEM" on Amazon. Most of the time, it's fine, but check the seller as there are lots of counterfeit products out there being sold as OEM.

Even if its being shipped from Amazon it doesn't always mean you're safe.. I ordered OEM air filters for another vehicle a while back and ended up getting cheap Chinese knock off versions that looked almost identical, right down to the print on the box. Upon closer look, I could tell they were cheap crap.
