    Hey everyone -
Got a 19 TRD off road and recently put in a Decked system, camper top, and a rooftop tent. I’ll be receiving my gofastcamper in November 2020 so I currently have some time...

I want to build out my Tacoma to comfortably haul the 200lb Decked system, 250 lb go fast camper and 100-250 lbs of extra gear and equipment in and out of the drawers.

I typically travel solo but do frequently have another person with me and all their crap. I’m looking to A) comfortably carry 600-700lbs easily without all the sag I currently have on they stock off road kit I currently have b) lift the truck 2-3 inches - tires, lift kit? New suspension??? Also - I should add that I have the predator tube nerf bars which honestly get in the way but may be beneficial with a lift?

most of my driving is on pavement for work but on the weekends frequently rock climb, whitewater kayak, obviously camp, and drive forest service roads, and some off roading (little to zero rock crawling). Think Southeast mank - thick forests, ruts, small rock gardens. Nothing like big rock crawling. Looking for the ultimate utility Tacoma but nothing too too excessive as I like the clean look of my current set up

    Welcome to TW!

Great to see you use your truck like a truck, you probably should talk to a professional about what your needs are. It will help lots I bet.

I have seen @whatstcp suggest this and it sounds like a good idea..

Ditch the nerfs and get sliders.
Consider a Dobinsons setup with air bags. They have good options for heavy hauling.
One of the worse things I did was upgrade suspension thinking I had time before I got to heavy. My build progressed way faster than I thought and now need a heavier setup long before I originally thought. The weight adds up quick!

You’re going to need custom leafs. Ask in the wedge camper or Drifter thread what spec people are using.

Would I need to get new springs in the front or rear? I see the ome complete kits but I’m not adding any extra weight to the front. Only the rear...

I didn’t get any traction (my bad) in the thread I started below, so I hope you all will forgive a cross post.

So you guys are all loaded heavy, ever take your rigs through the muck? Ever do it alongside a taco that wasn’t weighed down? Get any sense of which got better traction in soft stuff?

    Thanks again!

I doubt you'll need custom springs. It may just be as simple as an add-a-leaf. Or new heavy duty leafs, or new leafs with an added leaf like the OME Dakars, or All-Pro Exo leafs.

If that's not enough, then sure, maybe custom springs. But even before that, I'd consider airbags. Airbags are great because you can tune the pressure to *exactly* what you need based on your weight. Just fill the bags (can be done with a bike pump!) until your bumper is the same height as when you were unloaded.

Bags do have some limitations and considerations when going offroad. You are introducing another point of potential failure (not a critical "leave you stranded" failure, but a failure nonetheless). They can also limit your wheel travel, but it sounds like your intention is NOT to do the harder core crawling type stuff, so airbags should be adequate for your use.

OME HD Dakar leaf springs are exactly what you want in the rear. They were made for this very application. 884 or 885 springs in the front.

I’d suggest Icon RXT leafs with option 3. I have them and setup on option 2 right now, also a Decked system and a fiberglass cap. This weekend hauled 12x50# (600#) bags in the back and still had a couple inches before the bump stops. Ride was fantastic considering the weight.
