FWIW, dogs can adapt to just about anything but its all in the process. If they have fun doing it your'e good to go, if not...
    Easy... slowwwwwww does it.
If you try to just put your pup on the kayak or especially the paddle board without prep you risk scaring her into not wanting to ever be near it or water again!
I would first get her adapted to the water, which may not be a problem as it is instinctual for some breeds like Labs.
    That would be day one.
With my Lab all I have to do is say the word "swim?" and he practically mauls me LOL!
Then I would get her used to climbing onto the vessel, all in shallow water with much praise and gentle fun.

They just barely fit. Not sure how I’ll secure them when I need to upgrade my wife’s kayak

Took you long enough to get here. Still deciding if I’m more envious of the Tacoma or the fish.

Mannnnnnnn. Got lucky with both TBH lol. Right place at the right time with both. If anything, I will say this.

Do not buy the ascend kayaks from bass pro shop. They are junk. Period. I knew what I was getting into beforehand and know how fish/work a kayak and canoe being around freshwater fishing my entire life. I’ve got a 20’ bullet bass boat with a 150 evinrude on the back that will haul some serious ass and keep up with a lot of 250’s. If anything, do your research and float test before you buy any kayak/canoe. Luckily here in Tennessee we have a shit ton of skinny water and places to float or fish if you know what your doing or where your going. All in YOUR application.

Nice bass! I’m trying to find time to get my roof rack on so I can more easily haul the kayak to the good fishin’ holes.

Thinking of adding a LiquidLogic Stinger XP to the fleet, hoping to catch up with them for a demo in May.

Anyone on this thread into Surf Skis?
I just got my first one today, never really kayaked before other than going canoeing a couple times. But the past couple weeks I’ve been looking for an inexpensive kayak mainly for fitness but also enjoyment. Then I stumbled upon a Surf Ski. Never heard of surf skis until yesterday seeing one for sale on marketplace, did some research and being that I live just about 2miles from the ocean it intrigued me, also right next to the Indian River in Florida, so I can go flat water or the ocean. It’s a 90s Shearwater 20’ 6”. Not sure of the model. He was asking $400 but I talked him down to $300 for the small repairs it needs. Has a couple chips and cracks but I can easily repair it myself. Guy I bought it from had it since new and had about 5 others, said he used to race and everything and seemed like he takes care of all his stuff.
Now I just need to get a paddle.. anybody have any suggestions on quality brands that are inexpensive. Not trying to get the bee knees carbon paddle to start with. Still in the middle of researching paddles and haven’t figured out what to get just yet.

Finally got my Surfski out on the water for the first time, what better time than in 20-30mph winds from the little tropical storm off Florida’s East coast. Having never really kayaked very much especially with a skinny surf ski, I’ve got a big learning curve ahead of me. The wind and chop didn’t help me stay in the ski that’s for sure, but it was fun and I’m eager to learn. Anyone else on here paddle a surf ski?

Taking the granddaughter out tommorrow morning for her first paddling trip. WS sit on top 12' models that probably haven't seen water in a coupla years. Had to actually wash off dust and dirt dobber nests from their garage drydock daze....chose the ease of goalpost in hitch vs pulling out the Thule xsporter over cab rack or whatever it's name is......ready to head out early before 100 happens.......

Just a closeby in the hood paddle early before the 100 degree UV baking began.......

was plenty for her first time out. did just fine. forgot how much rigamaroll it is to juggle cars around and get boats out and dig up the hitch goal post and get vests and paddles rounded up and folding up the tonneau and tieing the boats down for travel and prepping camelbak and and and.......then reverse it all after you're done. Then the price of zero to do it and the memories generated and the fun it is makes you just tell yourself stfu.......and do it again soon.

Here’s my rack set up. I ended up making it so it could be used for a tent or kayaks.

Never noticed this thread before tonight. I have an old Dagger Crossfire I bought new back in the 1980's. Yes, I'm old. These boats were good for big rivers, Class III or less. Very stable, but still maneuverable. Not meant for tight, shallow water playboat/precision areas.

It hasn't seen anything but flatwater for over 15 years. My cousin I used to go whitewater kayaking with has back issues, and I just gave it up. We spent a lot of time in NC and WV. Still enjoy the local cypress swamp and local (IN) flat rivers sometimes. Built an overhead rack on my truck this summer.

These shots are from early October this year.
