1930s cloth wrapped tin coated copper.
The gfs house where I guess I live. Upgraded the kitchen lighting from a two light bulb fixture to 3 slim halo leds. Thankfully I could get to the wiring from above so I tossed a junction box in and cut away all the bad wire coatings. Next up is rewire the garage so I can actually use it, which will also be straightening out a majority of what I can get at. Theres some weird dead spots in the house with no way to get to them too.

We had that in one of our homes we fixed up and what happened was that one of the outlets that got used all the time, ended up arcing on the metal box and the cloth started smoldering, so we ended up replacing all the outlet boxes to plastic to avoid any further issues

Yeah did a plastic box and wrapped everything with electric tape. The wiring is so nonsensical in old homes it drives me crazy. These lights were on the same circuit at the basement lights and possibly the outlets, 2 outlets in the kitchen and one exterior light. Probably more.

I hear ya. We had circuits that went to both the upstairs and downstairs. It was a double with separate meters, and the downstairs folks electric bill was really high and we found that the upstairs window unit circuits were jumpered onto downstairs circuits...

We’ve never used it, we have a heat pump. Breakers turned off and thermostats are all removed.

Pit Boss. PB1000SC2. The guy who designed and owned Trager Grills sold and now works for Pit Boss. So Pit Boss is actually just a better more up to date Trager from the same guy , but at a cheaper price point. The turkey came out awesome btw.

Whats the best cheap flooring? Looking for stuff that snaps in/together but is good waterproof material. Ive seen velour i think its called but its shrinks too much in cold, looking for something that keeps the seams tight and weather proof.

The one I used said to use it so I did. Just laid the cheapest stuff. More to prevent possible sliding and any expansion issues I might come across. If you’re not as concerned about cost, I could send a pic of what we used in the house. It’s 100% water proof and can still be reused after a flood. Cork bottom so no need to use under laminate. Did not use that in the shop.

I used that same flooring in Lake Shore Pecan in my basement. The cutoffs sat outside next the burn pile for 2 years. You would never have known they got wet.

My basement is unheated and stays in the upper 50's all winter. I havent had any issues with joints.

I used the cheap Traffic Master underlayment. It is free floating

Ours is pretty hard too. We switched to potassium a couple years ago so we can still water plants.

So jealous! Looks like a great space!

yes please. This is going to be for a couple projects one being a cheap flip house my friend is purchasing, he used some vinyl stuff last time and it shrinks a lot in the cold...I dont mind it shrinking and expanding at the wall edge but when the planks shrink its kind of annoying. Just looking for options later, also this year Im going to put some flooring down in my shop to cover the gravel thats in there and want something waterproof and shrink proof also that will handle being unheated in the winter.

When you say "shop," do you mean hangar?
