I watched a video of Seatbelt Mike back when the 2016s were first coming out. He mentioned that something like 87% of mid-sized truck buyers were most interested in (QDR) Quality-Durability-Reliablity and next most important was the ability to comfortably leave the pavement.

That's about what I would expect.

It's why Tacomas are so popular, in spite of all the mediocre reviews by journalists. When buyers have to put their own hard earned money down on a truck, they want one that will last and get them home each and every time. We can joke about 3G tacoma quirks until we're blue in the face, but the fact is that it is still the most reliable, highest quality truck in the midsize segment right now.

We also get Ranger Raptor clearence in all models with the chin strap gone.

It takes me back to the XJ Cherokees. They were killer offroad but had the most cramped front seating ever. The Tacos are wayy better but still sacrifice a bit for the offroad capability. Look at most of the others and they are set up more for on road.

That is the biggest negative about the Frontier. Anyone looking at one, should observe how low the frame rails are, even with the FX4 package. It is a big problem when trying to off-road them, which is why most people don’t. Even with 265/75/16 from the factory, the Frontiers are scraping their frames on just about anything.

They all have the same weird narrow body, high bedside look, ugly AF!

Toyota gets it right with bedside proportions. The Tacos look like you expect them to. Easier to reach over and into as well.

Lol that is one thing I miss... reaching the bed floor over the side. I'm 6'4" and have ape arms. I can barely reach the floor now!
