Maybe not. If it does not show up in Chicago next month, its likely pushed back a year.

It'll be 2022, from an reputable inside source. Toyota sat on their as*es and now its affecting other platforms, that and they'd be silly to try to drop a new Tundra the same time as the new 2021 F150.

If there is a delay, I suspect it will be tied to the shared Tacoma/Tundra platform above anything else, specifically the engine(s). This far in development, Toyota must have already settled on an engine or engines for the Tundra, and given the woes of the current 3.5L Atkinson motor in the Tacoma, they may be considering something new. Of course, they sell so many damn Tacomas each year, they may not care, but Ford, Nissan, and Chevy are teasing much better engines than what Toyota has or is planning (as far as we can speculate).

Maybe but delays mainly will be due to the shared TGNA-F platform for the Tundra, Sequoia, 4Runner and Tacoma along with the global similar models. The Tundra was the first to be moved to this platform followed by Sequoia, 4runner and finally Tacoma and since it was delayed it will delay the others as even a corporate giant like Toyota cannot launch multiple new vehicles on the same platform within a year.

Could also be delayed due to Cybertruck throwing a wrench into things. My guess is Toyota is rethinking their strategy going forward.

Seems as though Toyota kicked the can down the road for too long with their trucks and now they are paying the piper in the form of release headaches. Looks like I'll be hanging on to the 2019 for a while.

As far as the platform is concerned, I have no doubt that Toyota is sequencing and releasing new models in a manner that is most beneficial and profitable to the company. Toyota isn't looking to release all of the models in a single year, and websites/"news" organizations speculating that Toyota can't figure out how to release so many new vehicles at once (over several years) on a new platform are being extremely short-sighted or setting out clickbait. But with the government relaxing fuel standards last year, it may have opened up a lot of opportunity and flexibility for Toyota, especially for the Tundra, which would be a warranted reason for the delay, if one actually exists.

    Edit: Removed political landmine.

The fact that they misspelled Tundra is a pretty dead giveaway to this fact...

Sure but the cause for the delay is the shared platform and no manufacturer can release multiple models on a shared platform in the same year from a manufacturing standpoint, though agreed powertrain could also play a part in delays. I’m willing to bet Toyota is waiting to see how hybrid plays out in the truck market / consumer demand.
