    Nope, bolted right up. Sorta. There’s a nut that holds them on, and then a nylock nut in a plastic handle you put on second as a failsafe. There’s not enough room for that, so I don’t run it. Works better for me though because I only put the j hooks up there when I need them.

    Awesome, I am familiar with that. I always used the failsafe nut on the T4R but haven't had a chance to use the J bars on the current Taco setup. I like this option over the TracRac I am running since putting the racks on and off SUCKS and the c clamps always come loose in the bed.

    You put a pad or anything on there or just throw the canoe right on the rack?

    So not a kayak but a canoe. My canoe is short with lots of rocker so fitting on my roof was challenge. I have a Leer cap and with a low rack on the Leer, the front of my boat would hit my truck roof. I put a Prinsu Toprac on the Leer and have a Cabrac coming and to clear the front I had to be creative. So I bought four 4" slotted extrusions (the same material as the rack), eight corner gussetts and two 51" cross bars from TNutz.com. This raised the canoe 5" and should give me clearance from hitting Cabrac when it's installed. 20180923_182632-01.jpg 20180923_182632-01.jpg

    Carried 2 kayaks and a canoe for a recent camping trip. Not a normal thing but we hadn't been out all summer and just said 'bring em all'. Took some work for sure - had to add additional bars across due to the width - but now I know it can be done. Held just fine at 70 with minimal noise.

    Highly recommend these for kayaks - good price, solidly built and they fold down: https://www.amazon.com/Malone-Downloader-Folding-J-Style-Universal/dp/B004O990KO

    Nothing fancy .. I use the 1x1" bars (bought an extra one for the prinsu as it only came with one... The rest are 2x1") and the yakima rollers and cradles came with square bracket attachments to fit that size bar. 1x1" was (is?) the size of thule bars, so this was just a way for Yakima to be able to fit in their competitors rack.

    Is anybody running a Prinsu Top Rack with rooftop tent & Kayak? I know I’ll have to get creative, just looking to see if someone else has already done it...

    Carries our 16ft Prospector with tons of rocker;

    also got creative and lifted the rear mount to clear the canopy;

    I use a Malone gunwale kit to keep the Canoe solid.

    Looking to mount a set of Yakima J hooks to carry a Kayak. Do you guys have any better pictures on how you mounted them to the crossbars?

    Did you attach the Malone to the rack using the t-slots, or did you just clamp them around the entire bar? If you did the t-slots, did you have to do any sort of modification?

    Clamped them around the bars. I've used them clamped around the standard Prinsu 2x1's a couple of times and clamped around the added 1x1's that I used for that trip. I'm pretty sure I had to get longer bolts from Lowes to go over the 2x1's but maybe not? Definitely did not use the T-slots on this. Not that you shouldn't but I just didn't.

    Does anyone recommend a particular brand of J-style rack set? I'm looking for a compatible and easily mountablr option for the Prinsu I just bought that facilitates carrying two kayaks. Thanks!

    I'd like to know if Yakima BigCatch saddles can be mounted to the Prinsu rails for a Hobie kayak.

    EDIT:

    I emailed Prinsu and they said those saddles should attach to the rails without issue.

    Lots--
    My lady wants me to get us both kayaks about that size. Would two of those mounts fit up top of the cab? I guess I have a double cab so it would be a bit bigger.
