Don't feel bad for them, the term "illegal" means just that, against the law. They need to go away, down here in south Texas it's prevalent. Happened to me twice now, lost my favorite truck last one.
I can mow my own grass still.

No it was more like I hit them.
What happened was this van pulled out in front of me and smashed its brakes for no reason. After the hit they took off. So when cops got there it looked like I rear-ended someone when in reality the car in front cut me off and barked hard for no reason. No dash cam to prove that it wasn't my fault.

They didn't give me any information. only got the make and license plate number before they ran off.
not much I could do to keep them there until cops arrived.

I lucked out. No spinal damage and I was wearing a full suit so no road rash.
The car kinda hit me head on/T boned me. Like a T.
I went over the hood and landed 50 feet later. I Broke a bunch of stuff, had some internal things go wrong and smashed my head pretty good. I enjoyed 10 days in the hospital and 5 more days for a follow up surgery later on.

I totally agree there’s nothing wrong with going 5 under especially when most of the traffic is usually going 15-30 over here in Juneau. Even in the ice

Better to be on the safe side. I usually try to stay under. I know my speedo is lying to me tho since my 33s and 4.88s.

Here's the result of the one crash I've had in my Taco. It's why I drive a truck. All I got was a little scratch on my hitch receiver.

I'm almost certain this dumb kid was texting and didn't see traffic stopped ahead of him. All in all not too bad, but he F'd up daddys car real good. Was pissing coolant everywhere. You can see the imprint of my hitch, lol

So far my only "crash" with Tacoma was a self inflected wound (me being stubborn and not listening my wife).

    The result:

    upload_2020-1-7_16-44-1.jpg

    The story:
While backing up on the camp site I saw a wooden pole marking the end of the parking spot. I was aiming to touch it it with the rear bumper on the pass side (not seeing it). My wife told me to stop and I did not listen, and then I "touch it". The problem was I miss it with my bumper, and hit it with the body bending it a little. The other problem was what I discovered it was not a wooden pole, but solid concrete just painted in brown, so the scratch on the paint went to the bare metal. There is no access from the inside to bend it back so I just painted the spot, polished it and called it fixed. I had that truck just few months when it happened. The scar is stil there as a reminder.

Had similar situation with my tuck. Thought it was a wooden post and figured it would be fine if I "touched" it slightly with my bumper when backing up and what do ya know... put a nice dent in my rear bumper. :annoyed:lol next time I'll know better.

Backup sensor. Mounts around the rear plate, one wire to the reverse light one to ground. The speaker goes into the cab. Progressive beeps to solid when within 2-3 feet of object.

Nah, that is not good enough for me. I have a backup camera mounted on the hitch receiver (not towing in Poland because I would have to do completely different trailer harness hat is not as simple as 4-contact USA). Using that camera I park inches away. What I see on the radio deck:

    upload_2020-1-8_8-39-15.jpg

How it looks from the side:

    upload_2020-1-8_8-39-46.jpg

Straight parking (like back up) is not a problem. Judging distance from outside turn corners when reversing and turning is a challenge. Side mirrors don't see obstacle that is coming from the behind, and because Polish parings are designed for bicycles then getting in or out is always an adventure.:fingerscrossed: Of course unless you are driving BMW, Audi or Merc

I get it, but I went the cheap least effective way. One hour to install, including putting all wires in a loom and $45.00. Much better than a dented bumper.

I plan to replace my bumper for a wrap around metal one so a small dent didn't worry me. I do like the back up camera option tho. May need to look into it.

I got this thing because my camper is in the way of the view backwards. It's vastly better than before the camper when I could see out the back. The field of view is so wide I no longer have blind spots. It also has a compass and GPS and a front facing dash cam.

The one downside it it's a little big and attaches to the stock mirror so it seems a little closer in the cab. I'd like to replace the mirror with a ram arm mount. I actually don't have a stock mirror after I installed an over head console but I have a mirror that's glued to the windshield. But still in the same location.

I need to figure out if I can connect my front facing camera that acts as my on board spotter. The connection is not common as far as I know.

Edit...and the camera can only be attached to the bottom of something due to it's orientation.

If your bumper isn't dented, that means you aren't using it, which means it's a waste of money.

    OMG, my blood is boiling.

Pretty sure I could still fit my truck in a couple of those spots:

lol I sometimes park real close to cars like this, but that's only after I had installed my rack slider :anonymous:
Also had a woman in a parking lot of Walmart slam here door into my slider. We made eye contact but when our separate ways. I'm sure it left a mark on her door.

Yep, rock sliders are nice to have, even if all you do is urban assault.
