Whichever one you're supposed to be on for that road, otherwise 35.

You're supposed to call mile markers so traffic knows where you are. That's really all I want to do with a CB.

If I get froggy before the trip I'll get a MUX set-up so I can talk on multiple radios.

The truckers are. Visitors just have to be alert and should monitor

OK, now that I've read the whole thread and gotten sufficiently stoked about it, ADD ME to the PM list please ?!?!

Unless, of course, there's a limitation on the ratio of experienced/ modded vs. stock trucks...

Nope, anyone who wants to show up is welcome.

As a side note, I did update the first couple posts with some more details.

yeah, all the major roads have a channel assigned for call out. But my digital radio doesn't have MURS channels pre-programmed, so I have to dial them manually. Unlike the CB channels down south which are easy.

I wouldn't worry too much about the MURS. It's poor frequency allocation and hardly used. Even feds limit themselves due to an agreement with Canada up there due to them being the primary user up there. I think you'd be rock solid with your handheld and cb bud.

Ch 19 is the one to listen in on for logging activity. We try to keep the chatter to a minimum on that one
Correct. Id highly suggest everyone in the group(s) be running inter-truck comms in the GMRS/FRS bands. Will allow for better audio and keep the CB channels clear

If you're looking for a 4 season ground tent I might have one for sale, I have a 4 person Cabela's Alaskan guide model that has been used only a few times.

Is a CB worth getting? I have a mobile Ham unit that serves me fine, but I see used CBs all the time and as cheap as they are I have been tempted to get one, just not convinced it is worth the hassle to install it.

I'd probably just bring a handheld Walkie. Frs/gmrs. The ones you find at Walmart. I believe that's what @Arcticelf said will be the common coma.

Your HAM should be able to cover the GMRS freqs we'll be using. I only keep the CB because people around here insist on being por and not using real radios...

That's not a bad plan. The baofeng handhelds are the best if you don't want to buy a "real" radio.

Oo shit, don't let any of the HAM hardo's hear you mentioning the baofengs that can be used across multiple bands. They loose their minds and try to scare you that some FCC SWAT team is going to come and waterboard you for using such an insidious device.
