Is this you volunteering to host again?

And yes, I think we should. If for no other reason than to crack the code of "build Ryan a high clearance rear which incorporates BSM." I'll bring cases of non-gluten free beer for that mod day

Nice! she hasn't been able to socialize much at all this winter, but in general is a bit better/settled in.

Depending on size/qty of peoples it will have to be after the ground dries out a bit so I don't ruin my yard lol.

I don't mind hosting at my house, just less tools (thought I have a lot) and a 2-car garage with no yard space. Fenced yard for the doggos

For the bumper, we definitely need to spend a day or two drawing/concepting and then a day or 3 fabricating.

Unfortunately the truck design is 6 years old at this point, and we have changed CAD, or I'd be able to make step 1 happen EZ.

I also don't mind hosting! But if the maybe list is 10 trucks deep again... well

I'm hoping to be ready to do a motor swap sometime around June :)

Maybe @beertimecontinuum needs to host a mod day so we can all come over and resuscitate his truck.

Sign me up for the motor swap. I'll be there to support with my brute strength and good looks.

I've got a concept for the bumper and don't think BSM should be that hard with a tube style (what I want). there are a couple examples out there which could be modified to bolt in the BSM sensor in the corner. Getting the angles/parameters right for it might be a bitch...

Something like that should be pretty do-able, with the level of tech I have, we'd want to make a mock up of that bottom tube for sure.

And for our sanity... upgrade my tube-notching capabilities lol

I'd estimate materials would cost about $240 from the local steel supplier, maybe less if you call/show up in person, I usually buy for ~25% less than the online quote just by buying in store.

My estimate for that bumper is
    2x 96" .120 DOM CRS mild
    2x 6"x 24" A36 Plate
    1x 8" 2.5" x .25" Square tube

After looking at the detailed pics on the linked websites, they actually have more tube and less plate than my estimate, but is probably in the same general area for cost.

sweet, i'll check out shops in the Lousiville/Lexington area for raw materials.

if you were drawing/concepting would you use some software or pencil/paper? Trying to figure out if there are things I need to learn. I've got a bunch of ideas in my mind and need to formalize

    Both.

    Paper first.

Then I like to draw it up in cad to confirm angles & lengths of the design, and then you can plot a 2d guide for complicated tubes.

I need to make more bends with this 1.75 x .120 mild to know where the tangency point is in the tool for different angles, and to estimate springback for different angles before I can confidently bust new stuff out without a stencil.

I get my stuff at a place called metals supermarket. There should be one near you. Good place to buy steel, etc.
