I ordered a set of 1.25” carriage bolts off Amazon to slide into my prinsu, but the bolts just barely don’t fit. I tried grinding down the edges a little bit and lubricating the bolts, but they still didn’t fit. I know lots of people have tried these bolts and was wondering if you had any tips for how to get them into the crossbar. Thanks! Pic for reference. 32ED4C81-1524-4018-B87E-B187BD81713E.jpg

Take it to Home Depot to try on smaller bolt.

You should just look into getting those quarter-turn drop in studs (1/4-20) from Tnutz.com instead of the carriage bolts.

Carriage bolts are cheap, but they require you to remove the bar to slide them in and out.

When I realized my Nomad only came with U-bolts, a quick run to Menard's for Stainless 14/20 x 1" carriage bolts and I'm all mounted up. So this can work. My Prinsu has the milled slots so I didn't have to slide them in from the end.

Why can’t you buy smaller bolts?
