Carriage bolts are stuck in prinsu

I ordered a set of 1.25” carriage bolts off Amazon to slide into my prinsu, but the bolts just barely don’t fit. I tried grinding down the edges a little bit and lubricating the bolts, but they still didn’t fit. I know lots of people have tried these bolts and was wondering if you had any tips for how to get them into the crossbar. Thanks! Pic for reference.

 

Take it to Home Depot to try on smaller bolt.

You should just look into getting those quarter-turn drop in studs (1/4-20) from Tnutz.com instead of the carriage bolts.

Carriage bolts are cheap, but they require you to remove the bar to slide them in and out.

 

When I realized my Nomad only came with U-bolts, a quick run to Menard's for Stainless 14/20 x 1" carriage bolts and I'm all mounted up. So this can work. My Prinsu has the milled slots so I didn't have to slide them in from the end.

 

Seriously just keep grinding.

 

Why can’t you buy smaller bolts?
