Had this issue with my '06. Leave key in ignition (just hanging there, nothing on) for >20 min. or so, turn to start, dies in 2 seconds no matter how many tries. Will not start unless you remove and re-insert.

Thought it was my immobolizer going bad, but same thing on my buddies '06, we did an experiment. must be some sort of dumb anti-theft feature. Would be good to have this stated in the owners manual. I'm sure some have gone crazy troubleshooting. We did not observe the red key symbol re-illuminating stating ignition disable.

If you are sure it is your immobilizer because you see it blinking then you need to jumper pin 4 and 13 on the OBD 2 connector for 30 minutes while the key is in.

    - Remove key
    - Jumper said pins
    - Insert key for 30 minutes and put a timer on it, anything less than 30 will not be valid
    - Turn off key after 30 minutes
    - Remove pins
    - Attempt to restart truck

After that the immobilizer should be reset and the truck should start and stay on. If it does not, you have another issue going on.
