Post pics of your grey, anthracite, gunmetal wheels

Hey everyone,

Unless I overlooked it, I did not see another thread specifically for grey wheels in a forum search.

I am a recent new member and just bought a 2014 Tacoma a couple months ago. I am trying to decide on wheels that are grey, but would like to see what you are running. My truck had 265/70 R16s with Fuel Ansa wheels when I got it. In my Google search it is obvious there are a ton more 17" options. Right now I am considering the 16" Turbomacs which won't be available for a few months and the Fuel 17" Nitros, but don't really want to have to spring for new tires. I like the look of both, but know they will be a pain to clean.

 

Personally I really like those Turbomacs and have never been a fan of Fuel wheels. Plus staying 16" will save you on also spending $600-800 on new tires and the 16"s should ride better.

Yup, this was going to be my recommendation. I just bought a new set from the dealer around Cyber monday when they were on sale - a hair under $200ea. Other than that, the cheapest I had found was through BAM Wholesale Parts.

Really like these wheels, but they only come in 17" don't they?

 

I haven’t put the rock rings on yet (long story). But I like that you can run these with or without the rings.

 

I believe so. I haven't seen them in the 16" configuration.

They come in 17x7, 17x8, & 17x9.

I found one set, black in 20x9.

 

Looks very nice! I didn't t realize you could leave the ring off and it will still look good.

 

Can thin washers or spacers be placed behind the ring so water will drain?

 

Yeah, I really like the look actually. Up close you can see the bolt holes which isn't ideal. I was wondering what it'd look like with some bolts just thrown in there to cover the holes. Could even do set screws with a lil grey paint to try and make 'em blend in.

Maybe, but new hardware might be needed. I haven't looked close enough yet to see how much thread engagement there is in order to do that as this was something I've been wondering too. My concern is that if you space it then hit something you will bend the ring which isn't ideal. My other thought was to just take a dremel with carbide bit and make some grooves in the backside of the rings. This could allow water to drain but not space the whole thing out.

I painted the center of my wheels grey. I love it with the black lips. Don't be scared to spray paint your wheels. Lots of gunmetals and greys that lay down nice.

Nice to see some pics! I hadn't even searched, just figured I'd use my "thread detective" tool to check the thread pitch and then see what was available. Looks pretty good. You could run something with a head on it too if you wanted that look.

I just wish the rock rings weren't so damned expensive! I'd love to have multiple sets, but at $100+ each that just doesn't seem worth it.
