Google Maps - help

OK TW.. I KNOW that I am reaching here but I have no idea where else to turn. I am looking for someone who works for Google to make a change to Google Maps. Why? I am glad you asked.

I am a volunteer firefighter and my department uses and App called I Am Responding. One of the features of this app is that it displays a map and draws a route to the address of the emergency. This is a fantastic feature and saves time (and potentially lives) - my quandary is this... last year the county opened a section of road that allows us to cut our time in half to the northern part of my response area, but Google Maps has not updated and the map that displays on the app continues to show the route going the long way around. While this isn't a problem for older experienced people such as myself, we are constantly getting new members and it's screwing things up.

I contacted IAR last year and there is nothing they can do because the mapping portion is from Google Maps. I logged on to Google Maps and sent a feedback explaining the problem and got the generic "We are looking into it" email from a robot reply. I have sent further "corrections" to Google since the initial one in April last year and each time I get the generic email but there are no results.

If you or anyone you know works for Google and can help me resolve this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

If they get enough people sending in corrections, they'll update. Post what you want exactly. 5-6 people send it in, I'm sure it'll get changed.

We moved into a brand new house 4 years ago. They changed the road from what it originally was going to be. Google directions would have taken people through someone's yard. I kept submitting it. Asked neighbors to do the same. It took a little bit but it got fixed.

 

The road is named Eastern Hills Drive and according to Google Maps today the section from N41 14.894 W095 46.276 to N41 15.223 W095 46.060 is closed which prevents it from mapping the shorter route to the north.

Post up a screenshot of the exact location on Google maps, then draw with line the new road. I'd be happy to help. But I don't want to draw inaccurately and cause a problem.

The road shows on the map already... Google Maps just needs to show that you can drive on it LOL

I have found that the routes I drive with google maps giving me directions, I can force it to relearn a new route by just having it on and driving the route that it insists doesn't exists and is screaming at me to turn around. After driving it a month or so it will finally recognize it as a legitimate route.

I think this is why sometimes passenger cars end up stuck in the middle of nowhere because of assholes like me telling google maps it is a valid route for anyone...

 

If you use the Google maps app for directions normally it will ask you for feedback about how their directions were. Take a navigated trip through that road and then give it a poor rating with an explanation. Or just go on opensteetmap and draw the road, Google compares there data with the openmaps stuff
