So I’m getting a new aftermarket front bumper soon and I want to mount up 4 led pods inside of it - the 2 outer lights as fog lights and the 2 inner as turn signals. My questions is... is it possible to wire up led pods as turn signals and how do I do this?

I would just y split each turn signal side to kick on a relay for each led pod drawing power off the battery.

However, why? that would be obnoxiously bright. Better off just switching to led turn signal bulbs and getting a smart tap turn signal relay from diode dynamics

I was planning on putting an amber lens on the pods - do you know if that would dim the light enough? I also have all 4 pods from a roof rack I purchased a few months back but didn’t like the look of them on top. I still want to use the lights though. Any suggestions?

Also I’m not sure what you mean as the alternative you mentioned. I’m not too experienced with wiring lights.

Google is your friend! whatstcp is referring to utilizing regular 4157 led turn signals with this flasher unit to customize turn blinks and light tap options. I saw this flasher a few days ago thanks to a member and find it quite the piece of equipment!

I have the Smarttap flasher and I really like it. The 2 coolest features of it are the departure lighting for walking up to the house and the wig wag hazard flashers.

And don't buy your LEDs from Autozone, Orielly, etc.

I have this exact setup on my tacoma and the turn signals are very bright and I love the smart tap relay. Especially the cool guy wigwag feature.

A few mods here and there and counting....
I'm running these for the front signals https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WYRCZ2M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These for the rear signals https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XSQWY75/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Paired up with the smart tap relay = win win!

Now you've got me interested. How hard is it to get to the flasher unit on the Tacoma?

Here’s a thread that shows how to install DRL if you don’t have it. That’s not what you want to do, but the procedure is the same. The Smarttap flasher doesn’t work with DRL, so if you have DRL, you have to eliminate the DRL by replacing the 3 way harness with a grey plastic jumper block. 1 more thing. It has recently been discovered that there is a over the counter tow package (not factory installed tow package)wire harness that has a 4 way flasher harness. If your truck has that, you can’t install the Smarttap flasher.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/05-drl-daytime-running-lights-install-oem.1475/

To remove the DRL and install the Smart tap flasher, you need the grey plastic jumper block part# 82671-30360. It's available from the dealer for about $8. Your truck has a 3 way harness that goes to 2 spots on the fusebox and to the flasher on the right side of the fusebox. Remove all that and install the LED flasher and the grey plastic jumper block. This will eliminate your DRL.

Wow, thanks! No quite as easy to get to as I thought, but not terribly difficult. My truck does have DRLs and the factory tow package, so I'll have to get the jumper block.
Going to have to wait for warmer (and drier) weather if I'm going to install this one. Thanks again!

A week so far and they're nice and bright. I swapped out the oem relay for diode dyanmics smart tap relay so no hyper flashing here.
