My truck has old lady car nose dive when I brake hard...when I get my 2-3 inch lift and level will this fix the nose dive? However I do love how my truck handles on and off road bumps especially compared to the F150 I had.

Stiffer springs are the only thing to fix the nose dive. Or 5100's with preload on stock spring.

I had Bilstein 5100s on my F150 and somehow I snapped one in half...now had I been rock crawling or something that would be one thing..but I was literally driving to my hunting spot and hit at lijl only 30mph a road meets bridge lip / slight wash out and snapped the damn thing the day before Christmas and I was supposed to drive on Christmas from NC to IN...I was so pissed.

Sport is more for the aggressive street driver.

OR is more compliant (wait for it) off road.

The answer to your 'will lift fix it' question is based on what components are used.

Another option is to not brake hard as often. ;)

Bilstein 5100 is more of a street/ generic fire road kinda thing. Using them hard on hunting/logging roads, they will handle it ok, but break or blow out sooner than later. Look in to fox set up with a 650lb or 700 lb spring

I'm they gave me a free replacement strut but I had to pay to have it installed so it was like wow thanks...I mailed the strut back to some location in FL which they did pay for...then they sent me an email saying it was a bad weld that broke...so again it was like wow thanks...I had to rent a flipping car to drive home for Christmas...I mean I do love aftermarket mods but honestly they do more often than not lead to problems.

I’m happy with my 5100s. I only wanted about 1.5” of lift, so don’t have a tonne of preload. Time will tell if they are durable, though most of my crew runs them hard on their trucks and I don’t hear many complaints of failure. They are cheap-as-chips to replace if they do. Also, the higher end stuff from Fox or King is likely great if you require the additional strength and performance.

What is certain, is the stock TRD OR Bilsteins are really bad for nose-dive, wallowy driving, and smacking the bump stops in the rear. Putting 5100s on all 4rs solved all these problems for me. Strangely, it is also smoother over small impacts and potholes. They both firmed up the ride and made it more compliant at the same time. They would have been a way better OEM shock from the factory.

Old thread but seems relevant to my question.

What's the most cost effective way to prevent such harsh brake dive on a OR? I really don't want to dish out for a whole new suspension setup, and TBH.. I wouldn't even know what I'm doing. Never owned a truck before this one and I'm more tech savvy than mechanically.

Could I just replace the front springs with 700lb ones (I assume the stocks are 600 or 650?)? I'm a heavy guy and the nose dive is the only thing I truly dislike about the truck. Would love to be pointed in the right direction. Please and thanks guys.

lf you can find some reasonably priced TRD Pro take offs that will fix it ... one of my favorite things about the Pro Fox setup ... no more pogo stick suspension!!

The dive isn't bad except in emergency braking situations. Maybe adjust your driving habits so you're not slamming on the brakes. Heavier springs will ride like shit with stock weight.

heavier springs in the front would be the solution. Can't really do a whole lot about the physics of weight transfer...unless you did a mid engine build...nice

Any idea what the OEM springs are rated for (like 600lbs for example)? or any suggestions on springs that wont add more than an inch of lift?

If I brake hard it doesnt bother me as I expect some dive. It's actually when I'm driving like a granny that it's most annoying. In bumper to bumper traffic, it annoys the hell outta me. It's likely because I sit fairly straight up because of my back, so it makes me lean forward every time. Most people lean back a lot more than me, so I don't think they feel the dive as much.
