    Hi All,

I just recently bought a 2010 DCSB and I've been curious as to why the tailgate doesn't lock? I just had a topper installed and it seems silly to be that I can lock my topper but I can't lock the tailgate.

Is there something wrong with my tailgate or is this standard across 2010 Tacoma's?

    P.S. - here's a picture of it because I'm obsessed :goingcrazy:

Tailgate locks became standard on the 16+ Tacomas. You can get an aftermarket unit for 05-15 Tacoma such as Pop n Lock.

Yeah, the solution here is to install the Pop & Lock. I bought the kit to wire it up so it locks and unlocks with the rest of the truck. Super handy.

Maybe I have bad luck, but my pop n lock got sun damaged and turned gray after 1 year but can be repainted. The key stopped working around year 3. I don't recommend.

If the goal is to lock the tailgate it's probably the only option. But if you are trying to keep the tailgate from being stolen I would go with something like the product linked above or a simple hose clamp with torx screws.
