I have a stupid question. 4 wheel drive don't work. and the dealership quoted around 2500 to fix it. I am thinking about getting a used one. but was wondering about the transfer case actuator is it internal or external cause I know some of them says no actuator and some don't say. and I can find some used transfer case for 500 and with a warranty

Step back and read some of the posts here on the subject. There are two actuators you need to look at: one on the front differential and one on the transmission. It might be a simple fix. I had the links on my previous computer, but haven't gotten around to adding them on this one.

    Hey
On prolonged NON usage of 4x4, the actuator does seize hence doesnt engage (in most cases), if you go to rockauto and look up for the actuator 4x4 you will see its picture, its piggy backed to the transfer case, if lucky remove, clean up terminals & the part as well might solve it. Its only $226 or so at rock auto & is still worth for you to try than throw the stealership 2 grand.

ADD stands for automatic disconnecting differential. So according to that dealer your problem is the limit switch on front diff (passenger side). There are a few big threads on that issue on here where people have taken everything apart and got it working with a few new parts.
