    Hi All,

First off, I will apologize in advance if my computer skills have (again) failed me and this is in an existing forum...and I will be suitably humbled and grateful for being pointed in the correct direction

2018 Off Road with a new issue, these past couple days...cargo lights stay on, but very dim, p'raps half bright. I haven't touched the cargo light circuitry or bulbs, nothing slaved into the circuit, haven't done a thing, Scout's Honour!

When the little switch is in the 'door' position, the lights will come on full brightness and go out when the cab lights go out....but then they come back on within an hour, dim again. In the off positions, same thing, the ghostly dim light within the same time frame.

Disconnected the switch and the problem persists.

Beyond the possibility of a haunting, any other ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks all...

I just looked at the circuit - nothing jumps out. 7.5 Amp fuse inside the cab. Relay in the ECM module. Switch. Light with ground somewhere under the rear seat.

Wonder what happens if you pull the fuse?

Thanks for looking, Randy, much appreciated.

I'll yank the fuze tomorrow (when it is no longer pitch black, snowing and below freezing, LOL) and see if it does something definitive.

    Will keep ya posted.

    Have a good evening

It's not a soldered relay. Relay panel next to junction box/fuses. Middle one.

    Thank You. I assumed ECM.

    Possible weak coil spring?

Cool, thanks Bro, I will pull that as well...THAT will certainly be a task for tomorrow. Sounds like the only vaguely complex part of the circuit would be the relay, so with an abundance of optimism and an overage of ignorance, that is what I'm setting my sights on.

I did actually go and pull the fuze, and the lights did actually go out, so hopefully that will mean that any kind of power drain is at least minimal....figuring that with real winter weather here, the odds are against me...one irritating electrical problem could begat yet another, and I could go out tomorrow morning needing to go somewhere, shovel the snow off and find that the lights went out all by themselves. Along with everything else on the Taco. And the battery.

All that and the Harry and Meghan Royals scandal, it is almost too much for one night. It is ale time.

    Thanks again

@caribe makaira spends more time looking at the drawings than me. He can probably describe the exact relay for you.

Sounds more like a resistance problem on the ground side.

He's getting a (+) voltage when he shouldn't. I think, if it was a ground issue, he would see it all the time. I was tempted to think that something was bleeding-over voltage? but he said "no mods".

Pretty sure the cargo light is negative trigger...like the map and dome lights.

All of the switches are (-) trigger.

All of the devices (IE: Dome Light, Map Light, Parking Lights, Head Lights, Dash Lights, Tail Lights, Ect Ect Ect) are (+) trigger.

    Hi All,

Thank you, truly appreciate everyone's interest and help...caribe makaira, REALLY appreciate you posting the schematics.

Zeus661, neg on changing the lights, haven't touched a thing. I think the stock lights are LED, actually

It snowed all day today, so I didn't venture out; apparently today was a perfect day to put up new blinds and touch up paint and...and...and hoping to go and tackle the Taco's ghost lights tomorrow

Thanks once again, hope everyone has a great evening
