I've got $1,600 put aside for a 4" version. I'll probably be waiting a while because I won't pay over MSRP "$1,499.00" for one.

People are fucking nuts on Gun Broker. I guess these idiots have to be the first of their friends to own one.

One buy it now ad for only $3,499.00.

This one has 34 bids, up to $2,025.00

    This one sold for $2,379.00

Rimfire Steel challenge shoot at the indoor range (good thing, because it’s -30F outside!). I’m in the only revolver. o_O

    DE5DD8DD-1FDD-454A-ABA5-98E98704BF8E.jpg

    edit:
This is my first steel shoot, and only my second time shooting this gun. I’ve gotten faster with each string. Shooting between 6 and 7 seconds, closer to 10 when I started today. My biggest takeaways?

Don’t miss! Reloading a revolver on the line sucks...

Great trigger on the 17, both DA and SA.

Sight acquisition, then making sure I’m on target, and staying there through the trigger pull. Sounds simple and basic, but the devils in the details.

I love this gun. I really really like this type of shooting. It’s like autocross with guns. :)

Another round of rimfire steel today! I’m doing better than the couple shooting a bolt action rifle but that’s about it lol. It sounds like this group is going to make this a regular event so this gives me a nice excuse to pick up a speed loader and loading blocks.

I don't think the recoil looks as bad as my .410 derringer with 3" high brass shells. I'd be all over it. Fun stuff.

I have been thinking about getting one in 45-70 but in the 10" barrel.
I love shooting the "big" guns. Went to the range with a friend Friday and
finally shot my S&W 460 XVR, it has the 7.5" barrel. The cartridges were the
Federal Premium 275 grain Barnes expander. Remember getting those from PSA
a couple years ago, they were blems. Copper plating slightly coming off. Seems like they
are normally $62 per 20. I got them for 19.99, bought 5 boxes. Now in hindsight I should
have gotten more, oh well. Enjoyed shooting that one.

Really liked shooting my .50 desert eagle also. Now I need to take the S&W .500
out and try it, it is the 8" barrel version. If I develop the cajones to try I bought
a box of Underwood 700 grainers. o_O The picture below shows a Magtech 400 gr.
next to the Underwood 700 gr. The Underwoods fill just shy of the full length of
    the cylinder.

    My three P&R S&W's. M19-3 from around 1975, M28-2 from 1972, and M57 no dash from 1968:

    DSC01586.jpg

All have target trigger and hammer; I have factory grips for the two .357's. The .41 is my newest one to me, haven't shot it yet but have brass, bullets and dies on the way to make some loads for it. All I want now is a M29, up to a -2.

Just picked up my Wrangler. Need to swap out the springs to lighten up the trigger (thinking 30oz), and hammer (thinking 17lb). I think Hogue does a xr3-red rubber grip that will fit. Also need to get a holster.
This will be my tractor gun to get rabbits when I'm out on my property.

Incase anyone is interested in getting a Wrangler, Hogue 83000 grip fits almost perfectly and adds enough material for your pinky to rest comfortably.

I decided it was time to give my Model 10-5 some love. Around February, the cylinder started dragging hard enough that the trigger pull was almost impossible in DA, and it was hard to cock the hammer for single action. Off to a local gunsmith and it came back smooth as could be. Not sure what all was done but the mainspring was replaced.

Then grips. I tried a BK grip adapter but didn’t care for it. Picked up a Pacmahyr small presentation grip and it’s much more comfortable. It’s a bit big for the snub however so it’s probably going to the 17-9 I have. I have a Gripper Professional coming that should be a more appropriate fit.

Next up was leather. I didn’t have a single holster to take the old girl out in, but after searching for a while I found a group of Don Hume holsters for 2.5” to 2.75” k frames for less than half the price of a new holster. I think the h719 is my favorite.

Found this one a couple of months ago. 50th Anniversary NC Highway Patrol Commemorative issue. Never been fired, so far as I can tell; no burn rings on the cylinder, the ratchets on the ejector star have no wear, and the turn ring on the cylinder is very light, so I know it's at least been "played with" a little bit. The breech face has very little wear from opening/closing the cylinder. Only 1200 (some sources say 1189) made. The revolvers are individually numbered in addition to the S&W serial number. Only revolver S&W ever acid-etched the designs on, and the first commemorative that used the Model 29. These are actually M29-2, made around 1978. initially, they were only available to serving Troopers or retirees, the commemorative was issued in 1979. Came in a wooden presentation case with the Seal of North Carolina embossed on it, which is part of the shield design of the NCHP.
