What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Got my blackstone oil results back.

Everything looks to be fine other than the silicone.

I believe that's from when I recently resealed up my oil pan and used way too much silicone.
When I get my new gears in and have to pull the front diff, I might as well seal it back up with less silicone and wait for proper curing times before torquing to to spec.
I presume a bunch of it squished out into the inside edge which is mixing with the oil.

Not the end of the world, but i'd feel better doing it over again the correct way.

Silicon and silicone are different if I’m not mistaken. I’d double check your intake/hoses for cracks as well as a clean air filter

 

So, I totally get the wiring diagram, but why/what's the resistor wire kit thingy you ended up using?

 

i think he just used the wire part of the resistor to t into the high beams

 

thats the way to do it, avoiding taps is my goal all the time.. ive had them wiggle free before and it blows when they do, posi taps are 10x better if you do need to tap though

Attempting to install a cb with my new radio. Gotta be at work on my day off for a few meetings so decided to work on my truck in between lol.

 

So where do you draw power? From the B-Y wire? I don't see that in the photo, which is why I don't understand the resistor thingy.

New tires installed. 225/45/17. Look tiny of course. The rain cancelled my plans of lowering the rear 2”. Gotta figure out why the rear end is so dang bouncy. May need new shocks is my guess.

Kenwood TM-D710 HAM radio. It's actually not that bright at night, the camera made it look worse than it is.

No, it is mounted to a HILUX overhead console.

 

After my timing belt job a few weeks ago I fired up the engine to listen for noises and I noticed a metallic scraping sound coming from below at the front and figured it was the AC idler pulley. I looked at a new pulley assembly and Toyota wanted $55, so instead I ordered a new 6301-2NSE Nachi bearing from Amazon. Swapping it out was easy and fun! Took me an hour and I saved $40.

Removed Pulley by removing the pulley lock nut and loosening the tensioner bolt.


Removed the snap ring. Pressed out using 2-jaw puller. Could also be removed using a punch or any similar tool you have. Spinning the old bearing revealed it was shot. Looks like I guessed right!


Pressed in new bearing using an appropriately sized socket and 2-jaw puller. Used a bit of grease to help it slide in. Reinstall snap ring, then reinstall the pulley and adjust tension on the belt. Torque pulley lock nut to 29 ft-lbs.

 

I can't remember were I picked up mine, but they are not cheap.
