I’ve already hit my knees on your behalf, and will continue to do so. I’m glad there are still people who know where their help lies (Psalm 121:2), and how to ask for it (James 5:20).

Thanks everyone, I've always believed in the power of prayer, and the more people you have praying for you the better. No one should ever feel embarrassed about asking for prayer, Bible says to do it, and I firmly believe in it. God is the great physician, and I always ask that he guides the surgeons hands when I go under the knife. @gasparic104, I'll add you and @Merlin88 to my prayer list. Merlin88, tell my your brothers first name if you don't mind. I truly feel sorry for anyone who's in the same boat I'm in. Back problems, and other health issues, can take away all the things we've always enjoyed at the snap of a finger. No more hiking in the mountains, fishing hunting, cycling, and the list could go on. These debilitating problems can drain us of all self worth, and change our lives forever. Thanks again everyone, and I'll give an updated post in early February. God Bless.

Well TW brothers and Sisters, I'm home from surgery, and so far things are better. I'm able to stand upright without being humped over. A big thank your for all the prayer requests. Cayleigh, and James, I added both of you to my personal prayer lists, and I hope that things are going better for both of you. Cayleigh, after reading your posts, I felt really bad asking for prayers, when your list of problems makes mine pale by comparison. I also hope that James's surgery went well and he'll be back on his feet soon. As usual, I'm having my fair share of post surgery pain, but they tell me these symptoms will improve with time. Now I have to start the long and slow process to recovery. Right now, number 1 on my list is walking, and then a little more walking. I'll attend a few physical therapy sessions to learn what exercises they want to do, but mostly I'll have to do this on my own. The want me to attend therapy sessions twice a week, but I just can't afford it. but I've been through this before, so I'm asking The Lord Jesus, to guide me and watch over me during the next 6 - 9 months. TW, please keep me entertained while I'm healing from this "Last" attempt to make things better. God Bless all of you.

I'm so glad to hear surgery went well, I've been thinking about you! Mine got pushed to the 17th. Everyone's got problems they deal with on a daily basis. It's not fair to compare; there will always be someone who seems to have it worse than you, but we all go through it in our own ways every day. I was hoping by sharing my experience I could help relate. I hope the PT does you well, I used to go for my dislocated collarbone, but I can't afford it either lol, it helped a lot though and is still helping me every day because they give you "homework." If you let them know your situation, they might also be willing to talk to you about additional stuff you can do to help yourself at home throughout the healing process. If you get the right therapist, they can make a lot happen.
Never feel bad asking for a prayer; surgery is an unknown. Anything can happen. My last one was "routine" and it went horribly wrong; this next one is supposed to be extremely low risk, but I'll still be praying before I go in there... you really never know. My mother has the same condition I do, and will be having her 18th surgery the 21st. I always worry a bit, a couple of simple surgeries in the past she's had to be resuscitated. She was completely fine after, but there are just so many unknowns. Recovery is arguably the hardest part of surgery. Taking care of yourself while also pushing yourself. I'm blessed, I've never had a surgery with a very long recovery time, no mandatory PT, nothing like that yet.
Be careful and check in, I know I'd love to hear back and see how you're doing. Also, idk if the doctor told you or if you're on blood thinners or anything, but make sure as you're in bed to try to move your feet and legs a bit. Putting a medical wedge or some pillows under your knees can help too. Don't need a clot on top of everything you have going on. But, you said you've been through this before, so I'm sure you're an expert at this process by now. I wish you the best of luck and I'll keep you in my prayers.

@gasparic104 , Thanks Cayleigh. Yes any surgery can give you a bit of anxiety, even what they call "Routine". I'll be praying for you on and before the 17th. My worst problems right now are the nerve pain shooting down my left leg, and I'm hoping it will just have to relearn what it's doing. So glad I'm not humped over any more. Being 62 and going through the 4th surgery was a bit stressful, but on the day of Surgery, I talked to the 10 people on the team, and asked them to say a prayer for me and the Doctor before he started. Worse part was waking up. Worst pain I've ever had in my life, and the last 3 surgeries. Took them quite a while to get it under control. The had 4 large screens up with several views of my latest CT scan, which was kinda cool. I asked them several questions before the gas man knocked me out. I truly hope that you get some positive results. I always talk to God at night before I go to sleep, and ask him to please grant someone other than myself some positive outcomes, and I was specifically asking him about you and James. Good luck, and I'll keep everyone posted on my recovery.

Maybe it's working! I've had a streak of luck lately; I've gained more weight this last month than I have the past 2 years I've been ill (My 2 year anniversary of my surgery was the 1st). I was in a pretty bad spot early-mid January with my weight, so I'm really hopeful. I'm also really hopeful about the surgery; rescheduling sucked, but they gave me a little more insight as to how things are going to go, and extended my projected procedure time as well as recovery in the hospital since I'm high risk, which makes me feel a bit better about the whole ordeal.
That was really nice of them to pray for you before surgery. It sounds like you had a really empathetic team. CT Scans are awesome; They never show them to me, but I always ask for a disk with a copy at the follow up. It's so fun to scroll through your body. The nerve pain sounds awful though; that would drive me absolutely nuts!

Well I'm still learning how to search this forum, and took me awhile to find this thread. So here I am 23 days post surgery, and I'm doing better than I'd hoped for. They refused S2-S1 with new hardware, and then put 4 inch screws from S2 into my pelvic bone to anchor everything in place. The surgeon told me that this area should be very stable now with no more movement, which hopefully means no more lower back pain or horrible nerve pain. So far I'm walking good, and standing upright for the first time since 2016. I'm walking almost 1/4 mile or better every day. The Snow kept me indoors yesterday, but I went out and did my walk in 47 degree weather, and so glad I did. Every time I go for my walk, it just keeps my mind thinking good things for the future. Thanks again everyone for your prayers, Cayleigh, I'm still praying for you and Merlin88 for your brother James. I'll find out just how good the doctors think things went on the 28th when I go in for my checkup. Hopefully get my driving privileges back soon. Just found out my sister has spot on her lungs, and she had a CT scan done today. Now we have to wait for her dr. visit to find out what's going on. Youngest daughter having health issues too. Like the old Morton Salt commercial use to say, when it rains it pours. have a great weekend everyone.

Insurance denied mine last minute; doctor and I are writing appeal letters but I don't think they'll cover it at this point. I have 7k scrounge up over the next couple months for a full mouth extraction and dentures anyways, so I've got a lot on the plate money wise anyways, but I'll be okay.

I'm really glad you're healing up better than you previously thought! That's always a huge relief! I know you have a lot of recovery ahead, so I'll be thinking about ya. Sounds like the future looks bright, I've got high hopes!

@gasparic104 , I had the same problem, the day before my surgery, I get a call from the surgeons office telling me that my insurance company hadn't given the approval yet. Then i get a call from the same woman about 30 minutes later telling me that the okay had just been given. Insurance companies can really suck at times. There are so many people, like myself who are just trying to get their life back. I understand and accept that my body will never be able to do the things I used to do. But I do want to be able to go outside for a walk on a nice day. My goal is to slowly work up to a mile, and then more. Maybe I'll get lucky and lose a few pounds that I really don't need to be carrying around. Good luck with your procedures. I hope you get your approval, and have a really good neurosurgeon.
