    Hi Everyone,

    I'm James and I just bought my first Toyota ever: a 2020 Tacoma (duh) 4x4 TRD Off-Road in Voodoo Blue.

    This is my first pickup truck since I had a 2000 Dodge Ram. I had a 2005 Nissan Xterra 4x4 followed by a 2008 Nissan Xterra Off-Road, so I'm no stranger to wheeling... just been in sedans and sports cars since 2011. The Tacoma is replacing a 2017 VW GTI Sport (6-spd manual) that was literally falling apart around me after I put 84,000 miles on it in 3 years. She was a good car, she just wasn't built to handle the miles I was throwing at her... and for about 14 months I was in a LDR with someone 300 miles away, so the 4am top-speed runs from Vegas to SoCal every week apparently didn't do my engine any favors. Sure was fun though.

    Anyway, as you can tell, I'm pretty talkative and am really proud to finally own something with a worldwide reputation for being basically indestructible. Living in Vegas, I'm happy to have 4x4 back in my life again. I've had the Tacoma for not quite 2 weeks yet (already at 1200 miles, up from the 5 that were on it when I test drove it) and I've already tried to see if I remember where some of my favorite old off-road haunts are. (I do!). In fact, I crossed the 1,000 mile mark off road and in 4 LO, at 27ºF, on a dirt road off Harris Springs Road up Mt. Charleston. I think that's a good sign for things to come.

    About me? I'm a professional photographer earning my living doing weddings and corporate gigs mostly, but I do shoot at Charlies Las Vegas a lot. I love camping and I'm a card-carrying scuba diver, but haven't been diving in an embarrassingly long time. Looking forward to at least a trip to Kingman Wash, AZ when it gets warmer to knock the rust off my scuba skills.
