Blind spot mirror icon light

My driver side mirror BSM icon light comes on and stays on after about 5-10 minutes after start up the vehicle, and varies with intensity from dim to very bright. Obviously there is some short somewhere, the BSM still works as I can see the light flicker when a car comes aside of me, but the light does not go out. If I shut off the engine and immediately start it back up the light comes back on, but if I leave it off for awhile the light is off when I start it but will come on after 5-10 minutes, if I drive long enough at times it will go out and then come back on.

I searched high and low on the internet and called a dealership who said to come in and pay the diagnostic fee and then we will tell you how much to fix it. They did not say how much the diagnostic fee is either. And I don't trust dealership service centers.

I am leery of ripping the mirror assembly off being I have not been able to find specific disassembly instructions.

Anyone else have this problem? Or know where to find any detailed instructions for the mirror/light assembly?

 

I say check the connectors at the bumper sensors since the mirror is an indicator...meaning the sensor sends the On/flicker power to annoy you.

 

Ive had the same problem recently......
I pulled the sensors / cleaned contacts but i still get intermittent blind spot Unavailable messages
