Front differential oil - does it need to be changed as frequently as the rear?

    Thinking about it - it really shouldn't need to be changed as often. I run the truck in four wheel drive several times a month, so it is not sitting stagnant for long periods, but it gets nowhere near the miles that the rear differential does. Am I correct in this line of thinking?

    Just change it when you replace your rear Diff oil.

    Bilstein 5100's, Grillecraft, Flowmaster, Nitto's, NFab's, BHLM, BFLM, 20% tint, more to come.
    I did the front diff, transfer, and rear diff at 30k. The only one that was even remotely close to needing it was the rear end. The transfer case oil still looked like new along with the front diff oil. I would go every other with those two .. so 60k for those and 30k for the rear end. This is judging by the looks of the fluid when they came out. Just my .02.

    I replaced my cv and the oil the came out looked dirty and I' at 29,000. could also be fromt he dirt on the diff housing, but IDK.

    Looks like a learn something new everyday on the forum. Will be changing front diff and transfer case oil then as well.

    I replace the f/r diff and tcase oils @15k intervals. The diffs didn't look good but the tcase looked fine. i'm coming up on 30k so i'll again change the diffs and tcase but if the tcase looks fine again i might push it to 30k intervals.

    Well that was easy. The majority of the time was spent removing my toytec diff drop (it didn't sit well with the skid plate so I had been wanting to remove it for a while). Rear differential got Royal Purple synthetic
    $30 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75W-90 w/LSD additive. Front differential and transfer case got Mobil 1 synthetic 75W-90. Engine got Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30 and a Mobil 1 filter. All in all it was $120 worth of materials. Also waxed the entire truck!

    I'm coming up on 30K miles with my 2010. Owners manual calls for 75W-85 for diff oil. Toyota cost for that stuff is through the ceiling. My question is, will
    $30 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75W-90 work well? I'd rather do it myself and save the $$ the dealer would charge for the labor and materials.
    I'd really appreciate any input to make me smarter on this.

    so are people finding that the amsoil works good in the front and back diffs.
    ive been reading that some oils like royal p seem to be wrong for them.
