    Hi all,

I bought my truck in late 2009 (it's a 2010 model year) and it's always run great. I'm good about regularly scheduled maintenance and oil changes, and I try to be on the lookout for anything that needs replacing.

I've never had any major issues / failures, but now that the truck is 10 years old I'm wondering what items tend to fail on 2nd gen Tacomas after some time, and where I should be looking out for signs of wear or proactively replacing parts before they fail on the road. I hope to keep it for a long time so I want it run well!

I'm new to TacomaWorld so if this has been covered in another thread, please point me there. Thanks in advance for your advice!

My truck is a 2010 and I got it a few years ago with 38k. If you've kept up with regular maintenance engine oil, air filters, diff oil, transfer case oil, spark plugs ect I wouldn't worry too much. Would be worth checking all belts and hoses, PS fluid, brake fluid, engine coolant (my radiator cap was bad) thermostat. Transmission oil/filter would be worth looking into.

Also make sure your bed bolts are tight and it check your fuel door as it can get rusted/gunked and break. Have you cleaned your MAF and throttle body?

Serpentine belt, check hose conditions, change fluids besides oil like antifreeze transmisson fluid and diff oil. Check wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rods and control arm bushing for wear and play. Check u joints for play
    Check spare tire for inflation.
    Bleed brake fluid
    Change spark plugs.
If your frame is getting rusty wire brush it and repaint it.

My first gen 98 - I had for 17 yrs and I also kept up with the maintenance replacing batts, oil, belts ect. and the only thing that failed on it was the starter motor. And it was probably only the brushes.

    How many miles?
Not counting a transmission failure, and oil and filters, I've changed: water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys, belt, spark plugs, front wheel bearings, LH front differential bearing, front brake pads, driveshaft support bearing.

Thanks everyone! I knew about the belts/hoses/fluids/filters but some of the other suggestions here were really great, and things I hadn't thought of. I really appreciate this from everyone who responded. Thank you!
