Anyone using off brand tires?

I am a bit of a cheap ba$tard. I'm looking for some 285/75/16 tires. I just did a cab mount chop and installed a 2" spacer lift. I saw these tires. https://www.tirebuyer.com/tires/ironman/all-country-m-t/p/TV153000710#reviews
Anyone have experience either way good or bad with no name tires?

 

Find out if dot approved. If these are Chinese you want to know. DOT means they have met US specs and any tire that meets this should be a decent tire safety wise.

 

I did. 5000 miles later they are cupped all to hell front and back. Wearing uneven. Even though I’ve had the alignment checked by three different shops and it’s with in spec. Won’t balance for shit. 70 miles an hour is hell. They suck. And are being taken off ASAP

 

I like the road hazard warranty available on major brand tires, the extra cost is worth it if you wreck a tire 6 months from now. One less expense to worry about when venturing off pavement.

cupping and uneven wear are top concerns. I know the old adage "buy once, cry once" and have rarely, if ever regretted buying quality products. Then again the cheap bastard in me wants as ll the looks and performance of the good stuff at a discount.

Dude, seriously. What are the two most critical components on a vehicle? That if they fail, you could die. The answer is brakes and tires. You shoulda saved the money on a useless lift and put it in tires. I cheap out on a lot of things but never ever brakes or tires. It's not worth it, even if they don't fail you stand a good chance of terrible wear, ride and probably uneven weight due to the inferior mfg process.
Try Cooper. They are a good tire that is lower cost.

 

A wise man(who was also a cheap bastard) once told me don't cheap out anything between you and the ground. (Tires, shoes, mattress)

 

You have a close to 40k truck and you want to put cheap a** tires on it? Makes no sense to me. I get the cheap spacer lift but you literally want to cheap out on one of the most important things on the vehicle. You should have bought a SR5 so you could get some decent tires.

About 6 months ago, my mom got some tires for her Nissan 4x4 Frontier from Les Schwab. They talked her into some Chinese off-brand ATs. Those damn things out-gassed so badly, they stunk up the garage for over 2 months.

 

I’m running the Ironman M/T 285/75/16s on my Taco, they’re a little noisy and ride kinda rough. But, they do seem to have pretty good traction in mud. Can’t vouch for snow.

 

I paid $800 OTD for my 4- 285/75/16 falken wildpeak at3. That’s mounted, lifetime balance, free flat repair, free rotation ect...

Keep googling. That price isn't even that cheap tbh. During sales you could score some name brand tires for a similar price.

Discount tire direct has sales every major holiday.
I find if I do that the price is close and you will get more miles out of a quality tire.

I’ve had 3 sets of tread wrights and I think they’re great. I’d much rather have them than Chinese tires

 

How so? I've never had them but there are a lot of people who are fans of them so I thought they must be pretty good.
