I have a 2001 3.4 liter extra cab. Going to purchase the Magnuson kit that comes with charger pulley and injectors. I have a few questions:
Should I upgrade the factory fuel pump?
Should I purchase any new internals or are the stock strong enough?
Is the factory head gasket good enough with the new boost?
Lastly I’m going to get a rebuilt factory automatic trans, is there any tuning that should be done? Also should I be doing anything to the trans?
I am new to Tacoma world so forgive me if this Info already has a thread.

I'm sure most of your questions have already been answered by those who have come before you. I've seen several threads on superchargers, just do a search, you'll find plenty of info.

Just remember that the SC was a factory option from Toyota TRD, so there isn't anything else you really "need" to do as far as the trans, head gasket, etc... It can handle it. The A340 is a pretty bomb proof trans too.

If you're after serious power though, I'd look into an engine swap. The SC only adds maybe 40-50hp and costs $3500 plus install. If you want more than that, by the time you even come close to 300+hp, you could just dropped a new motor in, lol...

You can add anywhere from 50-100 extra horses depending on what you do for upgrades.
Stock 3.4 rear wheel HP is around 140hp-150hp, crank is 190
My rear wheel Dyno hp is 260hp with supercharger, crank probably 300

This link will give you all you need to know.
Installing the supercharger is an easy job.
    Maybe 3 hours going slowly

I just installed the supercharger and methanol injection kit in my truck two weeks ago. To be honest, it wasn't hard and it took longer to figure out and install the methanol system. If you're buying a brand new supercharger, you should have all the parts needed. I went ahead and swapped out my plugs and thermostat while I was at it while I had the intake manifold apart and had easier access.

Do you all know if there are any intercooler or charged air cooling options for the 5VZ-FE besides cooling with methanol? I’m worried that the hot summer days in Mexico are not going to help the pre-detonation issues I have seen in the past and it would be nice to have another cooling method outside of methanol. I’ve also seen the 7th injector add one but feel like it’s silly to waste gas for its cooling ability.

P.S. I have the 1st get TRD supercharger (light grey color), but maybe I should upgrade to the second gen?

No reason to update the 1st gen supercharger, it is just as good as the 2nd gen.

Probably your best bet is to have a custom made radiator made for your truck,
Stock radiator is only .75” thick in the core area. Have one made that is 2.25” thick and run a cooler stat

I like that idea for engine temperature, but even if the engine is at a good temp you can still run the risk of pre-detonation with hot air intake temps, a smaller URD s/c pulley on a hot day in the desert. Would suck to get stranded in Mexico with a blown piston :/

There are no inner cooler options.
If your boosting a lot methonal can drop the temps by 100 degrees depending on your setup.

Or you could just do water and use a larger nozzle for more cooling power

So you can run water intead of methanol for the injection? Does it matter if its distilled water or anything like that?

It depends, regular water and wiper fluids have minerals and they WILL plug up your nozzle!
but yes you can run distilled water to help cool it down and it’s trial and error with finding the size nozzle, starting point that works with your engine,
    Same with methanol,
With a 1 nozzle I get a small decrease in temp,
With a 5 nozzle and a 25 percent methanol I got a lot of temperature decrease.
