My high-pressure fuel pump chips so loud I can oftentimes hear it over my music.

I've been to two dealerships asking them to replace the pump and they tell me it's normal to sound like that and refuse to fix it.

I've listened to other 16-17's and they don't sound like mine.

How do I force them to replace it?

Be patient and wait for the recall to go through and it’ll be a breeze.

The recall is for the low pressure pump so that wont apply.

I suggest calling Toyota and opening a case with them. They will typically get a resolution pretty quickly from stubborn service departments. Also, print the TSB and show it to the service manager while explaining how yours exhibits the symptoms listed on the Toyota document.

I did take the printed copy with me and handed it to them when they checked me in. No dice there. I will try calling Toyota.

Try a different dealership. Also, don't "strong arm" anyone. You catch more ants with sugar...

Be pleasant, explain the condition, offer a possible solution (TSB) and go from there.

That’s what I would do, it’s gotten several warranty repairs done when my service manager pushed back.

Tell them to start up a Taco they have on the lot and compare. If it's truly not normal and you brought it to them before the warranty was up (assuming you did), then tell them to fix it.

You shouldn't have to deal with noises on a warrantied truck. Post warranty those noises are on you, unfortunately.

Brought mine in for chirps in 2017. They replaced my fuel pump but told me not to tell anyone else or post online.
