Wow Flex seal. I always thought it was snake oil. Oops I see we updated the same thing.

I use my wife’s gravy. I can’t get that stuff off the pans when I do dishes. My frame should be in good shape for my great grandkids

You make a good point. I’ll give bacon grease a try.

I'll just keep using Fluid Film as I have done since 2015 and my frame still looks new. Even my Kings through the Winter with all the Salt still look new.

You posted that just to show off your fly yellow tube. You’re not fooling anyone. And yeah ok I admit, it’s pretty fly.

For those of us that don’t know about fluid film, can you explain it? How do you apply it? How long does it last?

I have it done once a year in my area at believe it or " A Fluid Film Party " He uses an air compressor and a gun to apply it. He pulls the frame plugs etc and uses small hoses to get in all the crannies. I go over a very dusty and dirty road after he is done, as the dirt adds to the barrier of protection. The whole winter I never wash or spray the underside at all. I do it every October-November.

Not really sure I agree with the placement. Yes, there was less visible rust on the Flex Seal test pieces, HOWEVER, this doesn't allow for the corrosion that will spread underneath the coating as a result of surface damage. IMO, this is no different than any other rubber or bitumen-based coating product. It also ignores one of the major secondary benefits of Fluid Film and similar products which is the lubricating/penetrating aspect. I will wager that a suspension swap on a 10 year old frame that's been FF'd every year will be a F***site easier than one that's had Flex Seal or a similar coating on it for 10 years!

the FF is not so durable in my pressure testing, i don't know what went wrong!?!
it failed the big time to protect my clean(ish) frame from flash rust :bananadead:
the FF on the bottom of the frame seemed to be ok, not really exposed to heavy washing or splashing yet, but it definitely did not protect the side from undercarriage washes months ago, i let it go to see if flash rust developed, and IT DID!

and i was most upset FF just washed right the hell off when i was hosing my wheel wells out from the winter slop buildup as i have always done

going to give CF 3000 a try for durability, it went on smoothly with foam brush, very clean and clear, no drip and no funky smell!
cleaned flash rust off with phosphoric acid afterblast, but the area by the perch in the wheel wells was toasted and the rust had started etching the metal and was not able to be just wiped off clean

    CF 3000 pass ~ 6.jpg

    CF 3000 pass ~ 8.jpg

    CF 3000 pass ~ 4.jpg

^^^^ there is mild rust under this gel that would simply not wipe off like the other section did, so hoping it stays put until spring/summer
only time will tell once i have to hit the power sprayer at the ghetto wand wash

below is what the FF looked like last fall after heavy application...

    IMG_9656.jpg

    IMG_9659.jpg

here it is, the FF already starting to come undone through the under wash

    IMG_9665.jpg

    after another wash below
where the heck did the FF all go?
crap, it just melted right off and flash rust starting it looks like
the bottom of frame stayed on well, but not the side for some reason

this does not seem durable at all for the sloppy mid west winters, not at all!

FF may work for your truck and your situation
but my truck wants only the best and most durable product

i CANNOT keep reapplying and checking this stuff when its friggn 0 degrees F with a 20 mph wind making it feel well below zero!
the only benefit i have seen with the FF so far is that it is a relatively 'non pricey' product?

but there are so many products out there to choose

not long at all in extreme conditions!!!

you spray the FF all over the expensive suspension components and it does not just readily wash off when you hose out the wheel wells with the power wand sprayer at whatever local wash place you frequent?

I don't wash my truck throughout the Winter, and never ever bring it through an automated car wash. I only hit the suspension with the shower mode of the hose. My truck is ceramic coated so it gets a nice complete detail before Winter and doesn't get washed again until Spring.

they don't have a shower mode option for me to use at the diy spray and wash garage , just a spot free rinse i use at whatever pressure they supply to hose the slop out
    no sloppy taco!

I'm in Mass I just wait for above 40 degree days and do it then. Hit it really good then towel off any residue water etc. Then respray the shit out of it, then wait a month or so and do it again.
