I regeared (out of necessity due to blown up rear diff) to 4.56 and felt it was right. was a 2015 access cab trd offroad 4x4 (v6 auto) heavy ass truck on 255/85/16's

If you are somewhat handy, you can have ECGS ship you the regeared front diff and rear third, you swap, and then send back the cores. ez pz.

Hear is my take. Stock tire diameter is 30.5" give or take a little. Going to a 265/75 16 is effectively dropping the axle ratio to a 3.61. Going to a 33" with out changing gear would be like having 3.45 ratio with stock tires. To maintain the stock overall effective gear ratio you would need to go a 4.04 (available ratio would be 4.10/4.11) but the point of going to a 33" would be to improve off road capabilities. Hence the advice to go to a 4.56 gear ratio. Other factors to consider are the tires being heavier, dealing with steeper terrain traveling both up and down and possibly loaded with more weight. I noticed a difference going from a 265/70 to a 265/75 with stock gearing. My truck is a daily driver and based on that I would not change gears as well as will not go to larger tire unless my intent was to move the build to be more capable off road and except the negative effects to highway use.

I have a very similar setup. I’m planning on 4.56’s so that’s good to hear that if you did it over, it would be with 4.56’s.

    So what’s everyone’s thoughts on 4.30’s?

I’m just starting to look into possibly re-gearing myself. I currently have 32” tires but plan on going to 33’s on the next set. I know 4.30’s aren’t as popular, but they seem like a perfect happy medium from the 4.10’s and 4.56’s.

As it’s stated above, 4.10’s would basically get back to stock gearing when paired with 33’s, so the 4.30’s would provide just a bit lower gearing, while staying pretty close to stock.

It's all what you want to do and plan to do. Put in your info and may help you decide. http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

4.10 or 4.30 would seem to be the direction you want to go.....BUT it's all up to you.

yea, I guess I was just looking to see if anyone has gone with 4.30’s and how they liked it.

I know 4.10’s will get it back to stock gearing with 33’s. And I know 4.56’s seem to be the way most go when they re-gear, so just want to see how many out there have gone in the middle with 4.30’s.
