I just wanted to show off this bed rail bike mount my buddy and I made because I think it's badass and I want to inspire some others to try making their own. With the softopper on pretty much permanently, my only bike mounting option was via the hitch and I didn't like the loss of departure angle.

I originally got the idea from the KB Voodoo Outboard Mount that they stopped selling. I suspect they stopped selling it because when using only the side bed rail, the thing flexes like hell side to side. We used 3/8" plate steel for most of it with a 2.5" tube cut in half for the rear wheel. To eliminate the side to side flex, we added a reinforcement tube to the front bed rail. Screwed directly into the front rail with self tapping screws. I think the softopper rails help secure it as well. Drove on the interstate for 4 hours with the bike mounted and it barely moved. It's ready for some off roading!20200111_232654.jpg 20200112_164431.jpg 20200113_120313.jpg 20200114_125312.jpg

Nice, I need to make something like this too. Does the rear wheel just strap down to keep it on?

I do like the extra bracket, and I only had side to side motion with the cheap plastic bed caps. Once I switched to his Steel Bed Caps there was no more side to side swaying.

That's a great point. I thought the flex was coming from the rail itself but it definitely could have come from the plastic rail cap as well. It's nice to know there are steel replacements!

15 degree WarFab Pattons. Awesome slider at an awesome price. Couldn't be happier.

Have you ever had the pedals cause damage to the softopper? I think I'm going to secure mine each time so they don't freely rotate.
