This is so true, the first time I saw a Ranger I thought it was a Taco.

Here in North Texas, a cooled steering wheel would be of more benefit. And although my old hands do get cold, I'd rather Toyota put those development dollars into something that will really make a difference. Like maybe a built OEM version of Peddle Commander since a new power train is probably not in the plan for several more model years.

Geez, a feedback letter and a Dumbgeon Creed all in one. You just missed a blurb about the desperately needed heated steering wheel and dildo.

    Dear Anthony:

You ASSume that we missed it - we miss nothing.

Months ago I posted a pic under the "Show Your Knob" thread that solved the dildo problem in an elegant and classy way. One of the mods saw it, demanded to be a test mule and then deleted my post when I refused....there was no way in hell we were going to lend out a prototype to someone who was either going to sit on it or constantly be suckling it - the finish would wear off. Unacceptable.

As for the heated steering wheel, again, we are ahead of the curve, even though are target consumer is behind it.

In March of 2019, we contacted 500 third gen owners on Tacoma World and offered to upgrade their steering wheels to our heated prototype. It was an unmitigated disaster.

We had owners complaining that the heat dried out the skin on their hands. We had owners who - despite us installing a clearly labeled switch showing a steering wheel with heat lines coming off of it and affixing a sticker to the steering wheel explaining what the switch did - could not figure out how to turn it on. We also had owners complain that we now needed to install a light in the glovebox so that they could put the gloves they no longer needed away.....I've already explained where that led.

We even had a handful of owners that somehow drained the tranny fluid when attempting to switch on the heat. About a third of the owners complained of a steering wheel "howl".

Needless to say, no heated steering wheels for Tacoma owners.

    :rofl::rofl:

I saw that knob but didn't know that there was an unfortunate :duh: issue afterward.

I totally see the problem with the heated wheel problem. Sad!

You guys who complain about this have obviously never been stuck on the side of the road. There's WAY more to price than tech.

Sure the truck is $40K. But go buy a Dodge, Chevy, or Ford... hell go buy a Jeep for $40K and see how long it holds it's value. See how long you have to wait before it has to go into the shop.

Tacoma has its problems, sure, but my wife's Fusion has a recall notice every other day it seems. My Dodge Dakota could drive itself to the dealer, it was in there so much.

I'm thankful this truck is ONLY $40,000, because it is a true blessing compared to what I was driving before.

Guessing no changes for 2021. There’s a thread here where some are confident there will be a full redesign in 2022/23 which I’m not fully buying but who knows.

My guess is the tundra and 4Runner are priorities for Toyota since the gen 3 is fairly new and dominating its class.

Problem easily fixed by installing built in lotion dispenser on the top of the shift knob

That was the plan, but somehow the ball was dropped on the Tundra. So, the latest word is that they are both delayed another year.

It was a bit unsettling to be sure. Here I am, sharing a TRD branded prototype exclusively for TW and a Mod tries to shake me down. I'll block out his/her name, but here is the shakedown PM:

Hey Skip!! Thanks so much for posting the pic of the prototype Dildo Knob! I appreciate it.

However, the pic has upset some of our posters, but after deep discussion with the moderation team we be willing to let it stay if you send me a prototype for extensive testing.

Let me know your thoughts man!

Look forward to hearing back from you!

    j*****

PS: Can you send me one in black, er anthracite? To match my interior of course. Thanks.

    How bout .

    1 4 Wheel Disc Brakes

2 USB And Cigar Power ports behind center console for rear passengers in Double Cab

    3. Climate controls for rear passengers in Double Cab.

. Reinstall cubbies in Driver side in Bed

    5. Make Bed lights in bed standard

    6. Make key fob Locking and Unlocking of tailgate standard.

7 Reinstall header behind cab for cleats, cost is less than $50.00, and the holes and screws are there already??

    8. Change Oil filter back to old school spin on, and place it on top of engine like Subaru.

    Just a few thoughts..

I'd gladly pay more for a even more stripped down version of the SR.

They were really holding you over a barrel there. Good job for not giving into that posturing. I suspected that it was @j***** .

No problem. That'll be another $2k increase, at the least. Pay up please. :spending:

Yes, it can. Look at the numbers for the past 10-15 years.

I doubt will see any changes.

TNGA trucks are coming soon, and Toyota will be saving so much in costs, I believe, with the new modular frames.

they probably want to move ahead with TNGA trucks/SUVs immediately. And skip any more upgrades on the 3rd gen.

we can probably expect “prime” versions of the tundra/4Runner and Tacoma on these new TNGA frames

They both came out in 2015, I’m guessing it was the style at the time. Still, would be nice to see a bit more uniqueness.
