Check my build thread...too much to list.
I jumped a big dog in my wife's civic back in the day. I didn't feel too bad because someone had previously hit/killed it and left it in the middle of the road. It was early, probably 4 am, heading to base to grab my weapon before flying out for deployment training. It was a winding and hilly road and at the bottom I hit it and got a bit of air. Stopped enough to check the car out and move it because I had a tight timeline. Car had a bit of an odd shake to it but drove well enough. After I flew out later that day I get a text and pics from the wife at a mechanic shop. Guts, front to back of the car, dents to exhaust pipes and of course alignment was off. Was not a fun fix. Shit thing about it is when we got to the base gate I asked the guard if anyone had mentioned anything about hitting an animal. He said someone about 30 mins before had said something about hitting a dog. I just took my ID and started cursing that person under my breath.

Got a possum in the '85 Yota... On a first date. Oops.

Clipped a deer in the '95 Pathfinder. Steel bumpers, all good.

Deer clipped me in the '06 LJ. Bounced off the steel tub. Staggered off into the woods after, poor little guy was a bit dazed

Just curious- can anyone float the gears while accelerating? In the Tacoma’s, not KW tractors. I can do 1-4 at 1000rpm, which doesn’t qualify. If I try for more rpm grinding starts at which point I chicken out.

It’s basically the same process as shifting a big rig. Accelerate, let off at a logical point to shift, and try to pop it into the next gear. If you do it right it should slide right in just like if you were using your clutch. Don’t try to force it in.

Generally there is a range of rpm that works and doesn’t. Once you get that figured out it is relatively easy.

Why didn’t you just run them over to use the wall compressor?

Because I found this on the internet. I would never in a million years use vice grips to compress a spring

My other car is a Kenworth, 10 speed, MT, which I float all day. I’ll keep practicing. Thanks for the encouragement.B9C50C46-FA3A-43C0-A3DA-8EB99C12457A.jpg

It is also way more of a pain in the ass to get it to work in a non-commercial vehicle. :bananadead: There is no real consistency in where it will work. In my experience there are a couple of gears that are easy and then the rest take a lot of patience to find the sweet spot.
