Yeah so that’s the Canopy camper, which is actually the more budget friendly model if you can believe that... I actually got to borrow the OK4WD Tacoma with a new Canopy camper on it and they’re pretty awesome as well. Main difference is the Canopy Camper is pretty much a blank slate and allows you a full interior build to your liking (like the GFC, Drifter, Treehouse ext.) the OK4WD truck has a Goose Gear build that was really nice.

If anyone is interested in the Canopy Camper, Chris (venture4wd) on IG and YouTube is running around with one now while his Jeep is being fixed and he’s posted some videos from it. His doesn’t have a heat source which has seemed problematic this time of year but Rin (owners son from OK4WD) fab’ed up an AMAZING heat source using a Dickinson Marine propane fireplace inside his that’s stunning.... anyway enough rambling but that Canopy Camper is a cool option.

Final note the reason I chose the Khaya is it’s a fully sealed unit, so no dust, no water intrusion because you’re not relying on a Tacoma Bed to be water tight, also mine comes out in 10 mins leaving the truck a truck which I think is pretty handy. Good luck!

This is the most appealing piece for me. I need the truck bed and any overly-laborious conversion would break the deal. This is really good to hear. I'll be moving into a place within a year that will have space for a trailer or something like this. When money is possible (even for a "budget" thing like this), I am very interested. I'm sure my kids would love it.

Haha so I didn’t mean “budget” snarky at all.... that said the Canopy Camper does NOT come come off the truck quickly or easily because it sits on the truck like a traditional cap and any build out would be under the Cap and if the camper was removed it would remain in the truck bed. The Khaya, which I have,is a slide in camper that would be completely independent of the truck when removed. Not sure if that was clear or is clear from the description of the campers.

I've had a hardside and a pop up. Pop up was a Skyhawk and the other I bought new 610R Travel lite. Like them both but got tired of cranking the top on the pop up.

My best bet not to give my wife a heart-attack would be to cruise the ol' craigslist to find someone with buyer's remorse. You got the point across, Yota. Based on your photos, I'm pretty sure you aren't in southern Arizona otherwise I'd ask to see it in person.

No.... I’m in the snowy North East, but I’ll be in southern Utah and northern AZ in May for a few weeks.... so maybe. There’s another Taco that’s got a loaded Khaya on IG and ExpoPortal I talk to. He’s based out of UT. If I think about it I’ll give you his IG he might be easy to meet up with as he lives in the SW anyway.

I once had a Four Wheel Campers Finch. It was a great little camper. Fairly lightweight, but just heavy enough to see a drop in truck performance. I had already put a lift on the truck but had to add airbags in the rear to help with the additional weight. It used an internal bed mount system with turnbuckles to keep it tied down to the truck. It was nice to have the amenities but those added up in weight and I was trying to be as light as possible. At the same time I wanted to add a front and rear bumpers with winch, full size spare, water, and gas and still stay within the capacity of the Tacoma. I wasnt gonna be able to do that with that camper. With that being said I sold off the camper and placed an order for something half the weight. _DSC1166.jpg

Mind if I ask which slide in you have? And if you're able to camp in the winter?

Thats the old one. As I stated in my original post its a FWC Finch. The replacement for that is the AT Overland Atlas. Its more of a topper than slide in. Ill attach a picture of it. _DSC0030.jpg
