About a year ago, plain and simple, my cruise control stopped working. The little green light will come on when I turn it on but when i try to set a speed nothing happens. Since I don't use it much i ended up forgetting about it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it or is it completely shot?

Does the green light flash "cruise" or does it stay on solid?

Don't know much about the electrical end of it, but the cruise control throttle actuator (vacuum servo?) could have a leak in it. You could get ahold of a vacuum hand pump or just suck on the hose (kinda gross) and see if the vacuum diaphram holds vacuum.

where is that located? and how do i know if it holds a vacuum? tonight while messing with it i did notice that just to the left of the c/c unit, there is a wire that branches off and one of the branches is only 5 or so inches long and has a connection piece on the end but not connected to anything and there is nothing in its reach that it could connect to...is it supposed to be like this? here is a pic of it (had to use a flashlight) it is taken from looking into the engine bay from the passenger side over the cruise control unit...the wire is secured to the wheel well
